Do You Think We Can Patch Up Both Oline and Dline Before 2019 Starts?

Oline I am less worried about. I think Larsen can be a manageable Center for us. If Williams comes back healthy and we shift Moton to LT, then LG will be our only weakness and good guards can be found in the draft much easier than T.

Dline is a mess. We can only hope Short can return to form and Poe can step up and not be worthless. Mario was solid last season, but nobody else on the Dline did much of anything (Peppers was ok, but he should only be used as a situational DE at most). I think our 1st 2 picks should be DE and DT if there are good ones available, otherwise needs to be BPA among LB, S, G, C, maybe WR.

Not digging through this whole thread.

But short answer is yes.

The DL we can get 2 QUALITY starters in the first 2 rounds.  Poe was a step back, and not having a true #1 pass rushing DE killed us.

We could and should be able to get that DE in round 1 and DT in round 2.

Now the OL.

Its HARD to really find a Day 1 solid starter for LT in the draft.

This past years 1st round OT

Kolton Miller

https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/local/Kolton-Millers-Rookie-Season-Was-Painful-503850191.html

Mike Mcglinchey- solid year, but started at RT.  Pretty similar Measurables as Moton, though Moton seemeda little quicker

2017

Ryan Ramczyk- RT

Garrett Bolles- struggle so far

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/289676/bouncing-back-a-big-part-of-moving-foward-garett-bolles

2016

Jack Conklin (8th overall)- RT

Ronnie Stanley (6th overall)- started at LT whole time

Laremy Tunsil- OG rookie season, LT year 2

Taylor Decker- LT

Germain Ifedi- OG

2015

Brandon Scherff- RG

Ereck Flowers

Andrus Peat- started out as backup OG, now starting OG

Cedric Ogbuehi- started at RT, benched. Backup RT, Bengals didnt pick up 5th year option.

DJ Humphries- started out at RT, moved to LT and has struggled as Cardinals has become one of worst OL in the league.

2014

Greg Robinson- 3rd team in 4 years

Jake Matthews- LT

Taylor Lewan- LT

Ja'Wuan James- RT

Thats ALL the OTs drafted in the 1st round the past 5 drafts

Moton has proven he can play LT and shown he can play it dam well when put there.  Williams is solid and should be resigned.  No other team is going to throw bug $$ at a guy coming off a knee injury and only had 1 big season.  We get the hometown discount and he should still be the best RT we've had (other than Moton) since Otah.

Now we really missed Norwell.  We saw how good even the combo of Otah and Norwell were in 2015. Late 2nd, 3rd, and 4th have been our sweet spot for OL lately.

Daryl Willams was a 4th, Trai Turner was a 3rd, and Moton was a late 2nd resulted in trdaing the 3rd and the comp 3rd from Norman.  Packaging the 3rds again for a 2nd should land you a Solid LG prospect to replace Norwell.  Staying there with the 2 3rds could still land you a quality starter at OG and Center.

That right there

And your back in business

You forget who is making the selections this year.  The guy that picked all those guys you listed is no longer here.  The current guys record picking o-line is not so hot, just saying.

Moton was actually our normal 3rd (72) plus Ealy to NE for 64 (last pick in 2nd). Basically moved up 8 spots with Ealy. I think Norman’s comp was Hall.

Your correct.

Looking at the value chart though

Our 3rds packaged will be valued between pick 58 and 60 (or pick 25-27 in the 2nd).  Moton was pick 64

No.  You are looking at a multi year rebuild and we will have to suck for a long time to draft high enough to amass those talented lines.

I have a feeling we will suck for a significant amount of time with Hurney and Ron in charge. People expect us to bounce back but ignore the writing on the wall. We should Fix the OL first in my opinion because if we can resign Williams we can Draft a G or C high. DL we need two DEs and a DT and that's just not going to happen in one draft or 3.

The Colts went from one of the worst to one of the best Olines

and still got Malik Hooker and Darius Leonard on defense at the same time

have to be able to draft great in both the 1st and later rounds

All the Colts stating O-line were picked #40 or higher.

I think that another, more scouting adept GM would be able to do it and not break the bank but I don't have faith that Hurney can turn it around.

We have a scouting department for that. Not all GMs were talent scouts before being GMs.
