Do You Think We Can Patch Up Both Oline and Dline Before 2019 Starts?

I'm looking at this roster and we have very serious questions all over both sides of the line.

Oline our Center is gone, we dont have a long term answer at LG, we dont have a true LT , Trai Turner hasn't been as good recently. The only position I feel is good is RT with Williams and Moton both being excellent at the position. So thats at least 3 O-line positions we need to fill.

Dline is even more of a mess. Mario has been consistently good the past couple of seasons but he's 31 and not a long term solution to DE. Peppers is old and a rotational player at best. We dont really know what we have with Obada, its a mystery. So essentially we have no long term answers at DE.  At DT, KK is 30 heading into next season and has been declining in play. Poe is terrible, Butler is terrible, and Love isnt a long term answer.

How exactly did we get into a situation where both sides of our lines are in aging shambles? It seems that we're so lacking in good young talent on both sides its going to take multiple years to repair/rebuild them. Do you think that somehow they could both be in good enough shape to compete next year? And if so how would you go about accomplishing it? What FAs would you sign and who would you draft?

Unfortunately our lines are a multi year fix. If we draft smart we can add a Center, DE, DT and SS who will either start or play significant minutes. FA can add OG, OLine depth and DT. But we have so many holes it is not going to happen in one season.

The answer to this question is only useful in as much as it keeps you from making the same mistakes again. It doesn't really matter which GM made what move (although I fear that is much of what the discussion will be).

Looking at strong OLines like Dallas from a few years ago, Indy, LAR, it seems they took multiple offseasons to build. I think we made a good start with Moton, and maybe Williams depending on his health. I'd prefer GVR, and Larsen to be depth.

If both Tackle positions are indeed solidified, then next year is feasible. Quality Guards aren't as difficult to find in FA. Just don't settle for complete scrub projects like Amini. In my opinion, a highly rated Center should be targeted in this year's draft, along with depth in the later rounds. Just stick to Big 12 and SEC linemen.
