He's 245 and 6'6 with a frame to easily add weight.

Derek Barnett who everyone drooled over was only 7-10 pounds heavier coming out.

Sweat plays hands in the dirt amd holds well in the run game

Barnett was 259 at the Combine and has a much thicker build since he's 3" shorter.

You don't think Sweat can add 20 pounds to his frame once he gets to the NFL?

I think he probably can. I just don't see the relevance of comparing the weights of two guys separated by 3" with vastly different body types. Especially when the shorter more compact guy weighed 14 pounds more than the taller guy's listed weight.

My only concern with Sweat is if he shows up significantly lighter like Randy Gregory did. I think Nebraska listed Gregory around 260. He showed up at the Combine at 235.

With a 4-3 DE you look for bend, burst, quickness, moveset, and run defense with hands-in-the dirt experience.  He checks  a lot of marks.

He's also got more mass than the Shilique Calhouns of the world who end up as solely 3-4 guys, funny enough, both were Michigan State.  Getting down to Miss State may have benefited him a good deal.

Against Greg Little:

He needs to bulk up and develop a move set but he could be a 4-3 guy but he's shown some good power for his size against SEC lineman.

I'd rather safety, lb, or o-line instead of another tweeter talent.  Shaq, gaulden, Haynes, and daeshon hall come to mind.  I'm tired of waiting 2 years for someone to develop to only be disappointed.  We need a day 1 starter in the first, period.

Hall was 6'5" 266. He wasn't a tweet. He had prototype 4-3 DE measurables. He just lived off of the opposition focusing on Myles Garrett... and yet still had mediocre stats.

Unless you're draft top 10, it's tough to find a day one impact starting DE.

You don't lead the SEC in sacks by being a project. This kid has talent.

Michael Sam led the SEC in sacks, was a 7th round pick that did nothing in the NFL. Shane Ray led the SEC in sacks and has 14 sacks in 4 years in the NFL. That's just from the last 5 years. Leading the SEC doesn't make you automatically NFL ready.

Definitely just will be after his first season. His rookie year he will be situational whereas most people are expecting a starter with the first round

DL is one position group that a rookie doesn't necessarily need to he a starter to have a big impact. With the way DL are rotated, there will be plenty of snaps available for a quality player. I think people lose sight of that because of Butler. Butler was just a bust. Horton was our #3 DE this year and played 47% of defensive snaps. I would expect a 1st round DE to play about that.
