How's Hurney going to further screw us

Since this franchise wants to be so much like the Cowher Power Steelers who also continue to live in mediocrity but play in a shitty division, Hurney won't go anywhere. With so many players contracts expiring, who's he going to keep and overpay? Funchess, Davis, Peppers are my three that he'll overpay to stay and backload the contracts.

My biggest fear is making Hurney a lame duck, which in his mind means he needs to do "whatever possible" in the next offseason to go all-in on next year and try to save his job.  It's like passing out grenades in a kindergarten.

Well....

I'll start with extending Daryl Williams coming off an injury, and an overrated "pro bowl" season the year before to "shore up" the O line.

Keep Gano on his absurd contract.

Start talking about an extension to Cam's contract.

Bringing in an "expensive" RB to take the load off CMC next year.

Signing a "true no. 1" WR.

Overpaying for TD and Pep for one more go round.

Keeping Poe, and not addressing the pass rush.

Not letting Ron know he is on the hot seat if we continue to be a "run first, wildly inconsistent, poorly managed" team.

Make a 2nd round selection.

I could go on and on.

The last time Hurney’s back was against the wall he started trading future firsts. Trust me when I say this, as bad as it is right now, he can make it much much worse.

I honestly think that Hurney being loyal and too nice flat out softens up the team.  It happened the first time.  It’s a Hurney malaise that comes over everyone.  Gentleman was not like that.  He was tough and kinda ruthless.
