I have a question for all of you *ahem* fans that are still pissed today that we won

If you were Ron Rivera or a player on the team, what would you have done differently to lose on purpose than what actually happened? I'm legitimately curious. Because we started a 3rd string QB and finished with a 4th stringer, had David Mayo lead the defense, had CAP and Travaris Cadet (who I legitimately didn't know was on this team) run the ball 27 times, had Colin Jones match up on Michael Thomas more than once, and we STILL easily won. That despite the fact that the Saints had Teddy Bridgewater (an obvious NFL starter talent) and Michael Thomas playing the entire game.

So...would you have told Kyle Allen to intentionally throw interceptions? Would you have intentionally fallen over your own feet if you were CAP? Please explain this to me. We had a super vanilla gameplan and ran the ball more than we threw (first time in months I think where that's happened).

Yesterday I was pissed and thought it was a huge mistake.  After digging into the draft results over the last 5 years, it really isn't as important as I felt it was yesterday....it's not like we dropped from a top 5 pick and even top 5 picks can be a crap shoot...so picking 15th instead of 9th in every round may not be that big of deal, depending on who is picking...so maybe rather than concentrate on losing a meaningless game that cost us draft picks...I'll focus on the necessity of FIRING Hurney.

There...I feel better now.  Glad Allen looked so good and hope he is ok.

He shoulda prepared for it like he does for the games after a bye week.

I’m not mad about winning glad we finally beat NO

I just think it was stupid to have cmc and Keek out there should have activated all the youngsters and played them instead of jogging mike Adams out there again.

Did you really watch the game?? PLEASE GO LOOK AT THE SNAP COUNT BEFORE POSTING..

All the young players did play and got alot of snaps.. What game were you watching??

i would have started claussen at qb.  and yeah, i think sean p is just the kind of guy to think about worsening our draft position.  that's his job security. he's pretty into himself and he's super competitive.  he's also a lot smarter than rr.  that's why rivera looked so dumbfounded they weren't trying for points

So the undrafted Rookie (on his couch 2 weeks ago) wasn't the same as starting Clausen??lol

We should have made Teddy look like Joe Montana. Yet we came full force with our starting defense minus just Luke.

No we didn't.. Did you watch the game.. Other than young players who need the snaps and older players playing their last game for the team.. We had 3rd and 4th stringers in most of the game..

Some of y’all trying to crap on the fans who are looking at the bigger picture is hilarious to me.

Fans hopes don’t affect the game whatsoever. Of course if we were the damn players, we wouldn’t throw the game. But we aren’t. We are the fans wanting this team to be in the best possible situation to improve. Last time I checked, drafting 8th was better than drafting 16th. Do I think Ron should have thrown the game? No...I could only imagine Ryan Kalil’s face when asked to purposefully lose the last game of his career...but that shouldn’t stop us fans from actually hoping we lost. Let me put some things into perspective...let’s go back to the last time we had the 8th pick, shall we...

8th - CMC

10th- Mahomes

11th- Lattimore

12th- Watson

14th- Barnett

15th- Hooker

After that, the only player arguably better taken in the 1st was TJ Watt...and yes, this is an example of just one draft...but good lord do u not see the point?? We significantly decrease the chances of landing an elite player with that win...and this goes for every round in the draft

So if u wanna call us fake fans for hoping we lost yesterday for the chance at a brighter future, u go right ahead.

I know, only you, ahem, true fans wanted us to win, you and Sean Peyton.

Easy, empty the bench, take out starting cbs, activate more ps players.  Seriously, losing isn't rocket science.  Peyton just wanted the loss more.

They empty the Bench .. Where do you think Allen, Frazier, and Cap came from..

So don't give Valuable game time reps to Bradberry, Jackson, DJ, Curtis, and Ian?? Players you might need to step up more than the top 10 rookie next year??

Really??

Bradberry and Curtis aren't rookies.

Really, there are people on this thread who are arguing that its just so hard to lose?  Really, we did it for 7 weeks.  Seriously, it just couldn't be done?   Really?  Wow, I guess it was just impossible.  The saints always manage to do the impossible.

But hey WOOOO WOOO we won!!!! SB baby.  Fu ck yeah!

whatever

The mindset of these two teams were entirely different going into the game.

I think the Saints were simply not overly concerned about the outcome of yesterday's game against the Panthers.  They had nothing to prove by beating a team they have consistently beaten.  It was in a meaningless game.  They had bigger fish to fry with the playoffs coming up.

On the other hand, every Panther player knew yesterday's game was the last one they'd play until next season, if ever.

They need the reps just like any rookie.. I'm sorry you want Bardberry coming in with no fall off and Curtis didn't really have a rookie year.. They need the game time reps..

Dude we lost more games than any other team this year by a score or less.. Sorry that's hard to do.  And if you refuse to atleast use context in your argument (like acknowledging it's hard to win when your starting QB is injured and you have a patchwork oline) than there is no reason to argue with you.
