Pep is cool, but he's an old head. Vet min, or a starter level coaching job!

On the practice days when he was 'resting' he still was out there on the field coaching. Giving it 100%, not really taking any days off. Lol, his "old head" may be worth more to us than what he can do on the field next year.

We don't have a TOP DE yet these fools continually talk about a guy who is still a force hanging it up because they're fantasy football Kings.

This is the real world! Listen, WE DON'T HAVE A PASS RUSH! DE is a premium NFL position, not easily replaced or upgraded without major coin, MAJOR coin.

I have a feeling he wants to come back but to a team like the patriots etc

Nah he could’ve done that instead of coming back to Carolina, and he’s made it pretty clear that he doesn’t care about the records he’s closing in on.

He gets paid to just come out for a couple of plays and redeem himself with the fans. It’s a nice gig and special treatment he wouldn’t get elsewhere. I think an easy check and retiring here with good will beats grueling it out somewhere else for the chance at a ring at this stage of his career.

I’d love for him to stay on as depth as long as he’s cheap and able. Would have been a great role for Steve Smith too if dude wasn’t such a hothead.

This. If we pay our $1M/sack again next year, who cares? Nobody else is stepping up, the draft is unpredictable, and he doesn't play every down anyhow. He clearly did not have his usual mojo later in the season, but I still saw a lot of blocking passes, sniffing out screens, and setting the edge on a plays where the less experienced or disciplined players were just racing up the field trying to get the sack or getting caught chasing plays, or, you know, just falling over. As long as he's keeping it casual, and we hvae no other options, this is a no-brainer.

Imagine having Pep & Clowney!? That may be better than the Pep, Rucker combo or the Hardy, Johnson era. People think DEs are a plenty and it's just not the case. To have two guys who dominated straight out of the box in the NFL human unicorns. I'd take two more years if that guy would give it.

Me and Nails would try and track down Greg because Pep and a training camp honed Hardy back with Washington could be the cheaper more sound choice for our present day personnel. Just football folks.

    • Agreed on the last part. They can’t afford to lose all these games with Martin and Perets.
    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
