Jake Delhomme - 42 Pass Attempts...

Davidson's gameplan between the 30's was pretty good and the 44 passes were mostly smokes, screens, dump offs etc. They worked today when the bills were often putting 7 guys on the line and 9 in the box.

The problem was that jake was totally off today. He even threw 5 yard passes over the receiver's head, was behind most receivers all day and other than the one pass to Barnidge had no touch on medium to long passes. The two picks that mattered were poorly thrown balls to receivers that were wide open. He couldn't even hit Moore when he was wide open on the sidelines.

I said in the past that Jake gave us the best chance to win but I don't think that is true anymore after today. As someone else mentioned, the gameplan could have been run by Moore or Feeley and frankly Jake has lost his Mojo. He doesn't have the ability to make plays and move the ball like he has for years. It is mental but it is there nonetheless.

At 2-4 we are out of it and we aren't going to beat tough teams with Jake the way he is playing. So I am joining the group that say let Moore or Feeley play and see what they can do. I don't think they will play worse than Jake with the same gameplan Jake had today.

Davidson was not the problem. We threw a lot because we got behind. Early in the game, we threw mostly short passes, because we were afraid to let Jake throw a long pass. But you cannot score in the NFL throwing all short passes and we we got further behind, we threw the ball longer, and got burned twice in the second half.

Even teams running the WCO throw it more than 10 yards at times. If we go all short passes, we will not score much. If we throw the ball downfield, we get intercepted.

Let's see, we're playing the 4th ranked pass defense and the 32nd ranked run defense, so we throw it 44 times, and run it 25 as a team. Defies all logic. This is a big reason we're 2-4 right now. I think I'm done until Fox and Delhomme are gone. I've got better things to do with these 3 hours on Sunday than watch Delhomme complete passes to the other team and Fox leaving him on the field.

Silly. I will watch every week. Why would I stop? Just cuz they suck? That ignorant, just ignorant.

yeah, Davidon did a lot of what we were begging him to do. RB's used in the passing attack. check. 3 WR sets w/ Moose in the slot. check. A lot of safe throws that got a lot of people involved. check. Lots of yardage was gained as a result.......the only problem was regardless of the gameplan Jake is no longer Jake.....and he can't handle any gameplan except for one that takes him out of the picture...which makes him now worthless on the field.

Well consider me shocked!
I don't know why? I have said all along that I make my decisions based on the facts instead of opinions and speculation. I also constantly reevalaute the situation and will gladly change my position as the facts warrant. From what I saw at the game today, we lost to an inferior opponent and quarterback play was a big reason. It wasn't only the 2 picks but the fact that he threw poorly all day. The receivers had to make heroic catches just to complete dump-off passes. Hell I could have completed a lot of those throws.

Worse is that unlike the past, he didn't have stretches where he made great plays in order to make up for the mistakes. There was the bad but not the good.

didnt a wr have a hissy after the bucs game b/c he had 0 tds on the year? that he wasnt an asset to this team? said wr got his yards and catches today, and the panthers got a L. run the damn ball, or give up on the season and let moore and feely play at this point.

someone predicted that after steve's mini blowup we would force the ball to him today and not run it. well looks like that exactly what we did :(

Carolina needed to work on the pass today....run, run, run, and don't let Jake throw will do no good next week. It won't work against any team that isn't one of the worst in the league.

I don't think it was overly forced today. Gameplan was actually good today on offense. Jake simply isn't reliable enough to be a starting QB. QBs have to throw.....even on a running team.

    • The retirement thing is just a convenient excuse from Tepper. I'm sure if the team was trying to bring him on officially he would do it in a heartbeat and the league wouldn't bat an eye at it. He's not getting any other calls and we know there's a direct line of communication. You telling me no other team has put up a photo of an active player who left? I have a hard time believing the league would flag a MVP display, literal team history, as tampering. Moving on from JR is clearly bull too when we're parading Luke and Smitty around. It's Cam. Tepper knows that if Cam is brought on in any capacity, as long as he looks athletic to the average fan there's going to pressure to put him in when we're struggling at QB. They've decided he's not worth that but I think is a huge mistake. The organization stands to lose more burning this bridge than he does.
    • I've been here through it all my friend. So when I say I've seen how this turns out folks really should listen. But they won't. So I continue to be entertained by fair weather fans that talk down to me as if I don't know squat. That's fine. Their in for some painful reality checks.
    • Because Chinn Is not a God Damn Free Safety! He is a Strong Safety/LB and none of our coaches could figure that out.
