May tom brady burn in hell

Gnite

I was with you until Tom Brady part.  He did help give us Falcons choke job. I mean fug him still but save him from burning in hell.

Hopefully we all have something to cheer about next year and you did make good points.

This board has become a depressing place to come to. Too many cry babies every time something doesn’t go their way. One week they are upset at a loss, the next they are upset at a win. Football is about winning games- that’s the one stat that people like cam newton and Luke care about. As others have stated, this was some players’ only opportunity to show their worth in the NFL.

So upset over a few draft spots. All you are doing is setting yourself up to be pissed off come draft time because of course you will think that the player drafted right before us would have been the one we needed. Why do people do that to themselves?

Patriots consistently pick last or close to it and still have a stellar record year after year. Just proof that draft picks don’t really matter if you have a team that is driven for the W. I want a team that wants the win more than anything. The draft fills holes with rookies- there is still free agency and other methods of obtaining talent.

some of you want a team that willingly folds. I’ll never understand that. To each his own but dang the butthurt is strong on this one.

Pats are a poor example skewed by the best QB/Coaching/GM combination (yes I realize the last two are the same guy), arguably, in the history of the game.  They also benefit from having consistently bad teams around them in their division.

Can you name another team that has consistently picked in the latter half of the draft and been a perennial late-playoff contender?

no?

That's because the idea of the draft is to build parody by allowing teams that struggle to get the best talent.  That is why you see so many 1st-to-worst and worst-to-1st teams each year.

We all wanted to win.  We all want to win them all every year.

But we won a preseason game, yesterday, and it cost us 7 spots in the draft.

I can't recall every pulling for the team to lose before... but we were pulling for them to lose for the sake of future wins.  Because we are not the Pats...

Saints are laughing all the way to the playoffs. You know their coaches told them to take it easy on the Panthers so they don’t receive any injuries going into the postseason. Now we have or meaningless win and dropped a poo ton in draft stock, while saints are marching to playoffs.

Win win for them.

But not the other way around?

No, but I’m not a stat nerd I’m sure some people know how to dig for that crap. I’m just a casual panther fan. I like to see them win and enjoy themselves. I like to see the up and coming guys and the storylines of who shines and who does not. It’s all entertainment. You are acting like the panthers front office are directing your retirement accounts.

You're right.  I'm not a 'casual panthers fan'... I'm a die-hard panthers fan.

My 9 year old can name more starters than most fans.  My dog is named Luke Kuechly.  My closet looks like a team store with business casual peppered in.

The fact is... from a long term success perspective, this game hurt us.  I pulled for wins all season long until we lost against the Saints.  When this season became a wash, I want to make the best of a bad situation and leverage this seasons hurt against next seasons success.... and we couldn't even do that right.

I will be watching every game, as I always have, until I am effing dead... and I'd gladly take one meaningless loss for a better shot at more wins next season, and the next, and the next, and the next...   b/c the quality of this draft with ripple to the next 4-5 years at a minimum.  And that matters.

Been having this conversation on the falcons board as well. Just not that worried about losing an earlier draft spot. Most , if not all, of the advantage of drafting a few slots earlier is negated by the inability of anyone to consistently  judge how college talent will perform in the NFL. Half of first rounders are busts, percentage stays the same in top ten. There's just no guarantee that the earlier pick is the better one.

If there was, no top ten pick would ever bust, teams drafting in the top ten would quickly become too good to do so and tanking would be a viable strategy in the NFL. None of those things are true.

Saints turned around after a killer draft after going 7-9. Panthers [and falcons] could both have great drafts and set themselves up for years. The idea they've hurt themselves for years is just wrong.

Team's give up a first rounder to move up into a top ten, we just moved out of a top 10 because "feelings" and "momentum". Like anyone is going to remember in September 2019 what an abomination of a game we won in December 2018

If we lost, posters here would blast Rivera for losing 5 straight to Sean Payton and we'd have to endure another year of Saints broom gifs.

The people who knew how much we could jump up would have been fine with it. Still didn't matter. We were winning the game regardless. The Saints rolled out the red carpet for the win. I know they had starters in, but even the announcers said they were just playing vanilla defenses and their offense isn't the same without Brees and Kamara.

What should have Rivera done?

Nothing. I don't think there was anything we could do. NO laid down and in what was really good to see, Bridgewater wasn't good. Can't we be upset that the Saints screwed us by not playing like it was a normal game and be upset that somehow we pick 16th when the 7-9 Saints two years ago were 7-9 and picked 11th? Dropping 7 slots is a lot and that sucks, especially working so hard as we did to lose 7 straight.

This is getting ridiculous

A good send off for our retiring vets .  Always good to beat the Aints .    We got a good look at our backup QBs . No need to draft a QB .  It saves us a pick to put on more important needs . Its all good . Keep pounding !
