Kyle Allen should be our backup going forward

The most you can accurately say out of this game is that he's earned a chance to compete for the backup position next year. You can't hand him the backup position just off this situation.

The criticism that our staff sucks at evaluating talent is valid, but we already knew that.

Liked I asked earlier, who's fault was that?

His I guess.... he lost the QB battle in the pre season and was on the couch until last week so.........

You figure it out..

Point remains he wasn't on the team 6 or 7 weeks ago sooooo.....How was the whole starting him then going to happen??

Not entirely correct. He's been on the practice squad since late October and was actually on it for a while at the start of the season as well.

Backups don't get a lot of reps, but they would have had the chance to evaluate him vs Taylor Heinicke if they wanted.

Again falling flat on your face, I’ve been a fan since the inception of this team and I will as long as they are in Carolina. Been a fan longer then you, that much is obvious. But I hope your enjoy your new nickname “Baby Ecat”!

Whats really funny with what you said though is that fan are too in love with the panthers. You do know what an oxymoron is right?

Not exactly he wasn't on the team 6 or 7 weeks ago so no stop adding your debbie downer 2 cents in.. Its worthless at this point..

Point is the coaches yet again chose wrong when setting the roster.

His being signed to the practice squad in late October puts him on the team for the past eight weeks.

Backups run the scout team offense, so they would have had plenty of chance to see them play.

And let's be real, it's not like it would be the first time our coaching staff elevated someone lesser over someone better. It's happened enough with us to be considered a trend.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
