I think you missed the point. Teams do not trade for picks after a team has selected a player. Picks themselves have value. Like I said it doesn’t matter what it is spent on. Idk I thought I made my money analogy pretty clear.

For example the Saints didn’t trade their 2019 first round pick for Marcus Davenport. They Traded that pick for another teams pick for the opportunity to select Davenport with said pick.

the 7th pick in the draft is more valuable than the 16th pick. There is no way to argue around that.

I was frustrated to but then I thought on it.

Knowing Payton, I honestly and truley believe he was NOT going to win this game. He has a more aggressive mindset and accute foresight than the Panthers, mainly their fans. It’s what makes him a playoff, SB coach. He wanted Thomas to get the record and that was it. This tremendously helps the Saints to drop the Panthers in the draft like that, losing is a win for them.

But hey all the fans rooting for a win here can be happy today and sad when players taken ahead of the Panthers light it up for other teams.
