I understand what you're saying, but if Rivera knew how to coach, I would have no issue with him retaining his job.

Right.  People looking at Cam's injury in a vacuum without all the considerations.  Ron "I would have taken the shot too" Rivera is the main reason Cam has been subject to excessive hits over the years that have had a cumulative effect on his health.  This guy hasn't put adequate protection around him, and saddled him with Shula for the majority of his pro career drawing up plays with crayons because he couldn't get around his own stubborness to recognize the need to make changes.  He just sees Cam as this immortal battering ram and I'm sick of it.

Not surprised, Pittsburgh has essentially normalized either not making the playoffs, or subsequently getting trounced before the conference championships for years. Tepper sticking to the status quo of showcasing a shitty, losing product isn’t surprising but moreso disappointing.

Outside of changing the midfield logo and signing Reid, the team is basically how Jerry left it.

Wish this team would steer clear of the “Steelers Model” because it fuging sucks and hasn’t bore any fruits of championship success in nearly a decade.

just my $0.02

Oh hire what many agree to be the best coaching hire in 5 or more years out of dozens and dozens, it's that easy right?

So who is the next McVay, then?  Show me the list of candidates this year.

By the way, wonderboy choked last year in the playoffs against a mediocre falcons team, and his team looks like it's choking again.

Nobody knows how a coach will coach when hiring someone new. I am just tired of being late to the party. No matter how hard Ron tries he is always late.Reminds me of Eugene off of Hey Arnold Cartoon! Cam is Arnold trying to save Ron but something always happens. You know things are going well but in the end they just find a way to mess up. Good intentions but water and oil dont mix. I would like to see the 2 separate. I'd rather have Cam, but if he leaves I will not be mad bc I will still follow him. I just believe Ron should go.

I have heard off lame ducks HC seasons. But if we go into next year with Rivera and Hurney not only are Rivera a lame duck. The whole organization is a lame duck. Newton could be finished, and a ton of vets are going out this or next season. The whole team and organization are about to start over in 2020.

For anybody that’s blames shoulder for the collapse I have 2 questions

1 Does Cam play defense?

2 who put together the O line protecting Cam?

This here.  Our defensive minded head coach gave the keys to Eric Washington who allowed us to get reamed all season; teams had to be laughing in 3rd and long situations against the Panthers.  By the time he let go of some random underlings who weren't calling shots, and took over defensive play calling, it was too late.  This was a perfect example of his biggest short-coming - making an actual decision when it's too late instead of attempting to salvage the season that was clearly slipping away and everyone knew it.  Just like the riverboat never showed up until it was too little too late.  This guy doesn't get out in front of problems and course correct, he waits until he's in full on self-preservation mode and then makes changes.  We need a new philosophy almost more than we need the X's and O's refreshed.

Your logic is falling on deaf ears.  They are more than happy to credit Cam and the players for the wins, but when the QB's shoulder turns into wet tissue paper and he starts throwing 15 yard ducks, then a team that obviously would have finished with 10+ wins with competent QBing is the coaches fault.

Ok let' say Cam doesn't get hurt and we follow the model of coaching Ron displayed the 1st 6 games. When we make it to the playoffs and we are in need for a coach to match the level of the opposing coach, do you trust Ron' judgement? I haven't been able to in 8yrs. That' the difference in winning a championship you have to have a smart coach who knows how to use his resources thats when you know you have a great coach. Ron has not displayed this at all . He has no plans to back up a plan.

Cam was use like a rb cause it help us won games and one of the many reason Cam Newton scares defenses cause they have not only game planing for his passing and stoping that they have to worry about his running.

Before shoulder surgery Cam had taken 300 more hits than any NFL qb since 2011, 50% more than the next QB. He was doing designed runs and taking a pounding like an NFL running back. You can't do that to your franchise QB for 7 years and not expect him to break down. Cam's ability to run is absolutely a weapon but it has to be balanced remembering his long term role as a QB. Allowing Cam to shoulder the entire offense as the qb and leading rb due to piss poor coordinating over and over is assine. In that aspect RR absolutely failed in his overall management of the team for years.

I'm fine with Rivera being the coach next year. He just needs to keep running the defense and let Norv handle the offense.

A lot of folks seem to feel that way.  And also that he needs someone else to manage the clock, another guy in charge of when to use challenges, someone to help evaluate the depth chart etc.  Pretty much, Ron would be a great HC if he only had to worry about calling the D.... Except on 3rd and long, lets get him another guy to handle the decision making in those circumstances.  We do all that and then Id be fine with Ron hanging around looking lost on the sideline another year.
