Ron Rivera Plans To Be Panthers Coach In 2019

3 winning seasons out of 8. Wanted to mention that again. You think that would fly with the top organizations in the NFL? Nope.

This is why I want him gone. Don't talk to me about the playoff trips. They don't tell the whole story. This does. Every team deals with injuries. They aren't an excuse.

Can't say I'm surprised. The injury excuse is there, and too easy to fall back on. The available replacement head coaching candidates aren't all that inspiring unfortunately.

It remains to be seen what kind of owner Tepper will be, but even if we have a winning season next year, we'll be right back to square one again in 2020 hoping we can finally shake the no back to back winning seasons thing off our backs. Something that Rivera has been unable to deliver through mostly his own stubbornness. If that hasn't changed for the better in 8 years, it's not likely ever going to.

Meh.

I take this to mean that whoever Tepper may like for the job isn't available this offseason, or he hasn't decided on anyone yet. You don't want to start over multiple seasons. When you replace the GM and HC positions, you only want to do it once. There aren't many options out there other than retreads who've been unsuccessful more often than not. Ron Rivera is an okay coach, not a great one. I have no doubt that if someone Tepper wants becomes available, he'll pull the trigger. Might as well sit tight with a mediocre coach that's done well in spots, than rebuild with a retread with a spotty record.

It could also mean that the crop of coaching candidates is lacklaster and he wants to make sure whoever takes over will be worth paying Rivera after he is let go. No sense of paying two head coaching salaries if the new coach will be just as bad. Tepper is playing this smart. I smell a lame duck season approaching for Rivera once his contract  comes to an end.

Long live the guy that threw an injured Cam Newton out there to get beat up some more?

Okay.

EVERY PLAYER PLAYS HURT IN NFL. CAM FELT IF HE SAT HE WOULD LET HIS TEAM DOWN. COACH LET CAM MAKE A MAN DECISION. IF WE WENT 0-16 WITH TAYLOR HINEKE THEN EVERYONE WOULD BE GONE EVEN PLAYERS. LOL

Well, not to worry. We'll probably get the chance to see that play out next season when Newton's shoulder isn't healthy enough for him to play.

hurney 2.0 is new man quit judging him by his first stint which he has already gotten fired for this is a new hurney and so far he been solid and deserves another year.

as for his FA signings this year poe was good at the time we need a replacment for starr unforn it did'n work out also cockwell was a good signing but got hurt in TC also Anderson looks like a good signing but coaches decided not to play him for whatever reason.

There is no Hurney 2.0.  There is only Hurney.  You will learn.

Can't believe anyone who watches Panther games still thinks Ron is even an adequate coach.  For example:

Right before the half in the Saints game we made a play that kept the clock running with 30 seconds left and 2 timeouts remaining.  I immediately called out "time out!" thinking it was an immediate no-brainer.  I watched incredulously as the clock kept running.  Then, at 23 seconds we called a time out.

I was dumbstruck.  This is below even high school level coaching.  Peewee maybe.  Unacceptable.  I have to believe that Ron had no clue to call the TO and some assistant had to sidle up to him and say "hey, coach, shouldn't we call a TO now?".  Ron shakes his head realizing his error and calls the TO.

We then felt rushed and Norv called one of the worst plays I've seen him call.  Isolating FUNCHESS and requiring an injured Cam to throw a pinpoint precise shot.  Horrible.  Coaching should know that the shoulder can't do that.  Rivera fuged up the game clock AGAIN and this caused Norv to mess up as well.  Norv made the call, but Rivera put Funchess in there.  Funchess should have been deactivated after all his drops.  Players know they can mess up under Ron.  All they'll get is a pat on the back and even a day off, being reminded "these things happen, let it go".  Great.  Great fuging coaching Ron.
