Breer believes the Panthers will make no changes

MMQB for December 24

So, possible we go into next season, and a major retooling of the team, with Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney running the show.

Oy :eyeroll:

Hurney had a "good rapport" with Richardson too. Unfortunately, he stinks at building winning rosters. That didn't matter to Richardson, of course. The hope was that it mattered to Tepper, but here we are.

Likewise, Rivera's coaching deficiencies will probably go unchecked. Tepper apparently believes analytics will make Ron a better coach.  We'll see, but I'm not buying that as a "cure all".

Regardless, another year of Ron and Marty looks to be on the horizon.

So...who's excited for next season? :poison:

Hurney's roster/core is the reason we even have shot at winning. Hate him all you want, but the studs on this team are from Hurney

This may boil down to Tepper wanting to see how it all runs before he makes any major changes.  It hasn’t even been a year since he took over.

I see no reason to lose faith in him or the franchise. The guy made 6B from 2012-15.  That doesn’t happen without a great deal of careful calculation.  I expect he will operate this franchise the same way and that is good for all involved.

If Hurney and Rivera are retained my Panthers fandom will be hanging on by the thinnest of threads.

I'm done till they get fired. This historic disappointment of a year was hard enough. Asking me to sit through another 6 years of poo ain't worth it.

It doesn't happen with a great deal of risk either and I'm not seeing it. What more do they have to prove they are trash? I mean we were 6-2 and now we will pick top 10. Talk about failure.

Marty has sure HOF guys on his resume. He could have passed on all those guys.

The Panthers are a billion dollar business not a speed boat. Trying to drive your billion dollar yatch like your new Scarab would not be wise at all, it would be reckless.

Allow the guy to gradually turn the ship without you guys piling on like a bunch of land hungry sailors. Give him a year or two and you'll get all the change you want for better or worse.

Yeah, I remember when Hurney drafted McCaffrey, Samuel and Moton.

"Studs" aren't enough. Every team in the league has "studs". It's the roster you build around them that makes the difference.

Marty Hurney is terrible at building complete rosters. Hence, why the Panthers only have three winning seasons under twelve years of his leadership.

You mean like he did last time?

How many winning seasons did we have out of the first eleven years under Marty again?

Heck, we had a playoff team last year. One season later we're looking at the worst collapse in history.

Do you really want to give the architect of that collapse more time to put his stamp on the team?

To be fair,  do you have any doubts that we were heading to the playoffs this season if Cams shoulder hadn't given out? As much as I know you dislike him, Hurney had a great draft. I think it's fair to give Rivera/Hurney one more shot with a (hopefully) healthy Cam. If we have a bad season? Clean house.

Why does a football team need a great deal of risk?

Just give it sometime.  The guy is smart enough to know what he doesn’t know.  Watching it all work before coming to any conclusions is a prudent move.  He was a 5% owner in a an nfl franchise, that is nothing like having the whole thing to yourself.

Pitching a fit cause he doesnt do what we want / when we want it is kinda silly.

I still woukdnt be surprised if Marty or Ron or BOTH get canned.

Well BoA has a capacity of 75,000 and this forum has less than 20,000 members ... what the mouth breathers here believe has no bearing on what the Panthers fan base as a whole believes

lmao you said that Cam getting hurt hadn’t nothing to do with our losing streak and then you have the audacity to call others mouth breathers? Please stop saying stupid poo

I don't really give a sh-t if Tepper does things the way I want.

I do, however care a lot about whether or not we win games.

On that front, I'd be genuinely curious  to know what he or anybody sees in the prior record of Ron Rivera and Marty Hurney working together that would suggest that these two are a winning combination.
