Breer believes the Panthers will make no changes

I'll give that Hurney did well this past draft.  I still believe he is who he always was though.  If he's safe and now has the full confidence of the owner, look out.  Up comming draft could have some interesting, crippling trades in it.

With the veterans whose contacts are ending next year and the cap space and roster room that we're expected to have, the team is set for a major retooling this coming offseason.

Having incompetent people in charge of something like that could set us back for years.

If Cam doesnt come back 100% we mays as well have hue jackson... If these 2 knuckleheads do in fact stay, a legitimate DC needs to be hired.

The prospect of having Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera running the team and not having Cam Newton on the field... :poison:

Nope.

The Panthers are my favorite team and always will be, but it's pretty hard to cheer for incompetence.

Imagine if the team had decided to stick with Jimmy Clausen for five years or so. That's kind of what this feels like right now..

If Cam is healthy next season I'm extremely excited. We were pretty much marching to the playoffs until Cam's shoulder gave out. Now we'll be adding more very high draft picks to a team that has a lot of talent already. We should make a playoff run next season unless Cam's not healthy.

Or that be wants to build a winner, but believes that can successfully be done with Marty Hurney and Ron Rivera in charge.

Or believes that Rivera has done just enough to warrant one more year to prove that he can learn or implement new ideas/strategies.

Rivera has some weak areas and blind spots...in game adjustments, mediocre talent evaluations, etc.

However....A very import part of being a successful coach is having the ability to get grown men to respect you, grown ass millionaire men to believe in you....To play hard for you.

Now, I’m still on the fence about Rivera at this point.  But I think that his ability to lead is criminally underrated and doesn’t get mentioned that often. It’s a huge factor that I would imagine Tepper is evaluating.

Can he still learn, improve, surround himself with the right people and put all the pieces together?

you can tell from RR's most recent comments--they are staying.

And I am  not sure that is not the right move.  If you do not identify the central problem, you spend your time dealing with the symptoms of that problem.  We have nothing to lose as fans,  but Tepper has a ton to lose---He needs to observe for a calendar year to see what we do well and what needs changing.  In addition, you don't make a change unless you KNOW you can make it better.  Tepper, the new guy, needs to get familiar with the team, the league, the off season, etc.  He will make moves--we just hoped that he would do it now.

In the words of Shakespeare, (Hamlet, V, ii) " If it be now, ’tis not to come. If it be not to come, it will be now. If it be not now, yet it will come—the readiness is all."

Likewise, Rivera's coaching deficiencies will probably go unchecked. Tepper apparently believes analytics will make Ron a better coach.  We'll see, but I'm not buying that as a "cure all".

Analytics cannot make half time adjustments, execute proper clock management or see a player behind a starter clearly more talented. If Tepper does not blow out Hurney and Rivera he is an early failure at ownership.

Well, if you enjoy watching high draft picks be added to the roster, I'd say these next few years should make you really happy.
