Since the majority of you were wrong on Baker Mayfield. Would it be dumb to Draft Kyler Murray?

I think we definitely need to consider drafting a QB in this years draft. I wouldn't consider Kyler for two reasons.

1) He's a talented baseball player. I thought he was already signed to a minor league contract by a MLB team, but I could be wrong. If he's not fully committed to the  NFL team it could cause a problem down the road.

2) I don't think Cam is in such bad shape that we need to draft a QB in the 1st or 2nd round THIS OFF SEASON. As talented as Murray is, he won't make it out of the 2nd round. In fact, since he won the 2018 Heisman I can't see him lasting beyond the 1st round. He could possibly go in the top 10.

Does of anyone know of any college QB prospects expected to go in middle rounds of the draft (rounds 3-5) that you think the Panthers should look at for 2019 since we really can't afford to pick a QB earlier than that with all of the holes on our team?

wouldnt mind it in the 7th just to have the guys rights? idk how that works honestly, but I dont see Kyler murray playing in the NFL but rather the MLB, now if they go on to beat bama and win the title, he might have a change of heart when that confetti is raining over him, but for now its safe to say he will be cashing fat checks and hitting dingers in the MLB.

Guy is all in in on baseball. Lock this thread.

No he’s not, he’s said numerous times he’d love to play in the NFL and also that he’d love to play both ala Bo Jackson.

I think he’d be a great pick, doesn’t have the swagger of Mayfield but is a more accurate passer and more dynamic runner. His height is one obvious red flag but his pinpoint accuracy, quick release and mobility make him an intriguing prospect. Durability is a concern for me. Hate OU will get destroyed Saturday thanks to their middle school grade D.

If he did decide to pursue football he’d have to pay back what he made with the A’s from last I heard. He actually made more than his coach Lincoln Riley this year.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
