God dammit why does this sound like he is being retained for next year?! If so Tepper is a straight up loser and a JR clone smh

He is coming back next season, it's all but certain from everything I've heard. Those reports were legit.

Tepper hasn’t made his billions by making irrational and emotional decisions. If he decides to keep Ron another year that doesn’t mean he’s another JR, it means he feels like with the right moves Ron can be successful. And that means getting rid of Hurney

I tried to tell you all he was coming  back.  Most of the huddle was simply projecting their own feelings on the matter and refused to look at it objectively.

Hurney is out, and a new GM gets to evaluate Coach Rivera, as it should be.  Even if you hate Coach Rivera, you don't fire both at once, because then by the time you get a new GM, you have to then accept a new coach off the scrap heap.

I don’t get why we don’t go ahead and fire hurney now. It’s not like he has anything to do the rest of the season

We're not keeping Ron and removing Hurney. If Ron isn't removed, Hurney won't be either. If the excuse is a injured Cam Newton, that means almost everyone is safe

This is bullshit if it plays out this way

Not sure how cams injury was the reason for the crappy defense. And not buying the Ron taken over the defense. They have had one good outing out of 3 he has taken over

Rivera and Hurney are horrible together. They can't even manage a 500 season.

No way in hell do you keep them both. If you have to fire one, then you keep the one that has been successful working with somebody else.

That's Rivera. Ron had a winning record with Gettleman. Hurney doesn't have a winning record with either Rivera or John Fox.

Sure sounds like it doesn't it? I would have to think no coach would do this if he wasn't going to be here next year.

Not sure that's a given.  Tepper may have given the orders to not risk any starters, protecting his investments, so to speak. It's also just how to handle a game when you're 6-9.

How has RR handled it the past?

As an outsider, be really surprised if the Panthers keep Rivera and Hurney. Think I'd want a clean slate as  a new owner.  Think the sale went through too late to clean house last offseason, if he waits to clean house this offseason, he'd be going into his 3rd year of ownership without a GM/HC of his choosing.

A snippet of Jourdan Rodrigue’s report on Ron:

That might mean players such as running back Christian McCaffrey, who has played 96.95 percent of the Panthers’ offensive snaps this season, and linebacker Luke Kuechly (97.67 percent of defensive snaps) could get some rest.

“What we have to do is we have to be smart with these guys going forward,” Rivera said. “We also have to get an opportunity to evaluate (other players) ... You go into Week 17 obviously trying to win. But at the same time, we have to be smart. We have to be realistic. Be honest.”

Sounds like a coach who has been reassured that his job is not riding on this game.  (Did not read thread, btw)

Disagree, i don’t care how much money you have made and we all know people who make money in the stock market anyway are more lucky than smart.

If Tepper retains Rivera he’s a complete moron and a JR clone

There’s literally no way we will beat them. It is literally impossible. They could throw picks on every play and we would still lose. You should know this by now.

Even if he runs this on every 1st down

and punts on every 2nd?
