We Currently Have the 11th Pick in the Draft. Who Would You Pick?

1st two picks should be Tackle and Center

I'm tired of the bad protection for our franchise QB. Address the DL in free agency. And get rid of Ron cause I can guarantee if we continue running just a base 4-3 defense soft zone it won't matter

And not DE and DT?

I see your point, but DEs and DTs are not there later--of course, we can't meet all needs in one draft--free agency will be huge, and we should have some cap.

Here is how I see C and OT.  Let me know your position--

C: We need a smart one, like Ryan Kalil was.  However, we have 2 players with extensive experience on the OL who can play C--Van Roten and Larsen. Is is smarter to find a LG?

T: Moton at LT and Williams (fingers crossed) at RT.  We have 2 who are decent depth.  While I am worried about Moton at LT, a third year player who is smart (Moton) at LT is better than what I am seeing in this draft.  I do not like many Tackles.

DE is our biggest need--it solves problems in the secondary. Zach Allen (guessing in December) will be the pick.

DISCLAIMER--Mocks are hard because you really need free agency first.  You can't meet all needs in a draft--and people will disagree because a player is a first rounder on one site and a fifth rounder on another--the value of that player is based on the info we read about the player.  I will not argue with anyone about their picks when I think back on the picks I wanted in the past.

It is humorous to read comments from some of you doorknob humpers, pretending to know what is best.

We have an expensive injured QB who we can't properly protect with what we have at o-line. He also happens to be the face of our franchise and our only chance at winning the SB within the foreseeable future. Let's say we play the Steelers again next season. Are we going to lose Cam permanently? There is blood in the water. It will be open season on Cam, or any rookie we put behind that o-line. Redrum. The hounds are coming. It only takes one Pittsburgh game.

The days of Cam dodging d-linemen bursting through our o-line are coming to an end. He just can't keep it up. Too many hits, father time, he can't mask our o-line problem anymore. It's over. And that's IF Cam even recovers.

What cost the Panthers the SB? Our o-line. This o-line will totally collapse against a great pass rush, or even a good pass rush like the Steelers.

Did anyone happen to see Heinicke get slammed and ruin his arm? He's just had an MRI and there's no telling how much damage was done.

I'm not saying there is an offensive lineman worth taking high in this draft. I'm not familiar with this draft yet. What I am saying is that we're not winning the SB with this o-line, and I don't expect Cam to make through 2019 without another major injury if we don't address the problem. He won't make it. Mark the prediction now.

I'm seeing a lot of mocks lately giving us DTs or CBs. I dont want either honestly, I still feel burned by the Butler pick and we have 2 good CBs so why would you want to spend a 1st rounder on CB depth?

IMO this pick needs to be DE or LT.  Some prospects I will really be pouring over this offseason are Jonah Williams (OT Alabama), Montez Sweat (DE , Southern Miss), Clelin Ferrell (DE, Clemson)

The best defensive player available.

At 11 the value seems to be DT (Oliver, Brown, Lawrence), DE(Ferrell, Gary), OT(Williams, Ford), Josh Allen(could he play 4-3 end?).

Also if we change coaches and/or GM what we need or want might change a lot.  If we were to go to a 3-4 that would probably have an heavy influence on our draft.  This might actually be a good year to change to 3-4 based on who is available in the draft.

Another coach or GM might put more value in safety.  Thompson might  be there at 11.  I would guess someone like Louis Riddick(if he was a GM) might be more inclined to draft secondary early than RR and Hurney.

Also there might be some QBs in play at that range.  Could be some movement in those spots.

If we were keep RR and a 4-3 I would be inclined to go DE if possible.  Specifically a bigger end if possible.  That 6'6", 280 type. If we address it in FA then possible OT or one of the DTs.

OT from Florida. Big, mean, nasty, athletic....a 10 year guy.

The Pick: OT Jawaan Taylor, Florida

Addressing the offensive line seems to be the need for the Carolina Panthers in most mock drafts you'll read, and yet the front office continues to pass on offensive tackles early in the draft or in free agency. This time around, the Panthers finally select a premium pass protector.

Florida's Jawaan Taylor is a big dude at 6'5" and 328 pounds but also has the athleticism to cut off pass-rushers and get after defenders in the run game. For an offense that relies so much on speed, the Panthers need a versatile offensive tackle, and Taylor has shown to be just that.
