When was the last time we actually beat them, 1996 maybe?  I don't actually remember.  I think the last time we played them remotely close might have been 2002.  2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018 were all blowouts.

I had us beating them one more time than that but I might have been thinking of a preseason game.

Looked it up and yeah, our only regular season victory against them was back in 96.

That was a great game, though.

The pieces are there.  We have to get younger and faster in some spots and, for the love of God, get some real offensive linemen, not people from the trash heap.  The NFL is year-to-year and being good depends on a lot of intangibles that change frequently plus some luck.

Exactly... so much can change in a year...

Going into last year, the Aints looked like a team stuck in a 7-9 purgatory despite having Brees.

We had an excellent draft this year. We certainly need another good one this year, but we were 6-2 and have lost a lot of close games.

Nobody wants to admit it, but the difference between 10-6 and 6-10 is razor thin.

NFL is very unpredictable.  No reason to think one or two guys can't change our record around.  The biggest question mark to me is Cam's health.  If he comes back 100%, then I believe there is a lot of reason to be optimistic about next season.
