Maybe. But he looks to be going to the playoffs, and we're not.

I'd call that winning the battle and losing the war.

I believe you’re missing my larger point.

My larger point is Norv Turner did a stupid thing, clearly a philosophical move. I surmise this based on his unwillingness to add another back into the mix. At the time, I was befuddled by this decision.

I don’t have any sources on any of this. I’m just willing to bet that Ron gave Norv the freedom to make these kind of calls, or at the very least, suggest them with great influence. I believe this to be the case given what Ron likely had to offer him to come back out of retirement.

So yes, Norv got his way. And his way didn’t work. It’s made for some unique statistics, but it wasn’t a formula built to last.

I'm not disagreeing with you on any of that.

Ron's admission today that maybe they might have been overusing McCaffrey gave me a chuckle. That's what led to the "list" comment. I was pondering if I made a list of all the things that Ron Rivera learned or figured out too late, how long would it be?

there was a play way earlier in the season where everyone on the defense keyed in on CMC and left Anderson wide open in the flat for a walk in TD. I remember being excited for the potential of having so many threats on the field at a time. Oh well.

So many of our wins over the last decade or so resulted from running with power in the second half of close games.

When it became clear to me that we wouldn’t be doing this anymore, I felt uneasy. You need that in this league down the stretch, when the dust settles from all the high-flying statistical glitter.

Lot of teams right now are winning in December because they can do that. Everybody talks about the Saints and their weapons, but they’re running the ball at a record pace this year and they’re doing with power.
