Report: Rivera expected to keep job, continue calling defensive plays

Not all that surprising unfortunately.

Rivera has more often than not been the same flawed coach regardless of who the GM is. Why do people think that canning Hurney is going to magically correct those flaws that haven't changed in 8+ years?

Only way I can live with retaining Rivera is if we bring in a GM who is going to light a fire under Ron's ass. Start consistently coaching like you've got a pair, or adios.

You don't understand people that want Hurney gone but you want Hurney gone...

the fact he didn't start calling plays til tampa is grounds for termination.  richard rodgers, eric washington? are you fuging kidding me.

That is it--he seems to have lack of vision.  Waits until he gets burned before crying "Fire".  Coordinator positions are rewards for loyal service to him.

#asexpected Tepper is all talk

Maybe, but it is a premature to be talking.  He is still new to this, and maybe he wants to slow roll this thing a bit to make sure he has options.

If you think about it, most GMs hire and fire the coach--so if Hurney leaked the news that RR is coming back, it could be an act of desperation or an act of ignorance.   We really do not know the source, but I would doubt Tepper has tipped his hand to anyone yet.

Did you actually read, or more importantly, comprehend the overall point I made in the post?

I'm mostly indifferent on Hurney. I didn't want him back in the first place. I've said all along that his time here won't last anyway. I'm fine if he goes, but not if we're going to pretend that alone is going to turn Ron into a better coach. Rivera has never displayed any consistent ability to evolve or learn from his mistakes. You can't keep blaming GM's for his glaring failures. Especially if people are going to continue to tout his "coach of the year" honors.
