Rivera is fired

What about GM?

I want Jim Harbaugh, he is a players coach and made for the NFL. He took San Francisco to the Superbowl and he is probably the biggest name we can get. He would bring a respect factor to our organization.

*Also any news on Cam's future with the team?

He'll make major changes on defense, but will go back to not calling the plays...a mistake.

If Rivera remains HC, Tepper should make it contingent upon Ron having to call the plays on defense and bringing in someone competent to assist w/management of the clock, timeouts and the 2 minute offense/defense.

Lincoln Riley is intriguing. Part of me thinks he could be the next Sean McVay, but I can also see him as another Chip Kelly.

The questions I have about Riley are 1) would he really consider making a move to the NFL? 2) If he IS open to making a move would he choose a team with major health concerns hanging over its QB when the Browns (Baker Mayfield), Packers (Aaron Rodgers), and Jets (major media market + a young QB to mold in San Darnold) are also possibly, if not likely, to be interested and offering similar money, and 3) Is he even really worth the risk if he will consider us?

It's true that the NFL has become much more like the college game in recent years, but it's also worth noting that most successful college coaches who have managed to have some level of success in the NFL in the last decade did have some type of pro experience before their college success.

Pete Carroll was a former NFL head coach before his days at USC, Jim Harbaugh was a former NFL QB, and Bill O'Brien also was an NFL assistant before moving on to Penn State.

It's also worth noting that Riley doesn't have a ton of head coaching experience even in college. Just a few years ago he was the offensive coordinator at ECU; it's a big jump to go from that to NFL head coach in 5 years time, even if he has certainly done well for himself at Oklahoma in the meantime.

I'm definitely not opposed to the idea, but it would be by FAR the riskiest move in the history of this franchise, IMO.

But didn’t he basically get run out of SF. I thought there were reports the players hated him before he left.

Time to move on people. Ron was given two generational talents very early in his coaching career, and has wasted over half of their careers. Give most credible coaches that and they'd have some rings on the mantle. Ron hasn't even put together consecutive winnng seasons.

I've never believed in staying in relationships your not happy in, because you're not sure if there's someone better for you out there.......you shouldn't either

I agree, but the fact that that would need to be a contingent is grounds for sending him packing anyway.
