Concerns about Newton's future...

Mr. Scot

While Cam's arm has seemed to slowly degrade the last 3 years I don't see this being the end. Norv came at the right time to get the best out of Cam and then he got injured in the Steeler's game. When Cam is healthy despite all his flaws he's still a top 10 QB. Let's see how bad the shoulder really is before we call the Saint's game his "curtain call".

The real Cam has missed the last 6 games.

the real Cam hasn't taken the field many times.  The real Cam wasn't on the field after he rolled his truck.  The real Cam has played through tons of injuries that have limited him.

Cam Newton is the toughest QB in the NFL.  Period.   Not just because he will play through anything but because of how he is willing to play.

Just now, GOOGLE JIM BOB COOTER said:

what do you mean? the only thing in that post that is even possibly up for debate is luke kuechly "ticking time bomb" status

as they should be with any injury. again, the surprising thing is that the team is just now beginning to treat an injury to their mvp caliber quarterback seriously. speaks to the shitshow this organization was allowed to become under richardson.

i'm...not suggesting otherwise?

like what are you doing with this here lol

he'll get one if tepper takes appropriate steps to modernize this organization. future looks bleak should we keep the coaching staff headed by ron "i would have taken a shot too" rivera. it's time to start caring about the health of the elite black quarterback. this is no longer mister's plantation.

The organization absolutely became a sh-tshow under Richardson, but it isn't under Richardson anymore.

It is, however, still run by a couple of people that Richardson appointed. Our best hope for success in the future is fixing that little issue.

I think realistically, that possibility, is comically small it isn't really worth discussing.

Could Cam's shoulder be an issue going forward? Possibly.   We see that in sports.  But there is little doubt based on what we know about Cam that it wouldn't stop him in the near term.   He will be back in Carolina.  Only thing up to consider is when he comes back next year....did the shoulder actually get fixed and can it hold up to a NFL season.

My primary belief since the story broke that Newton was going to sit has been that he'd rehab this offseason and be back next year.

I did, however, acknowledge concerns that it could be more severe than that.

After hearing these tidbits, I still want to believe that Newton will be back next year, but the concerns that seemed far off in the distance did take a few steps closer.

What on Earth is going on here?

We have at least 1 year to get Cam healthy, and that gives us 1 year to see if the shoulder can hold on.

We have 2 years to get Cam healthy, tag him, and see if the shoulder holds on.

Cam will be here for at least 2 more seasons, starting or no, IMO.  Unless the shoulder is completely gone, which I do not think to be the case.

Get the surgery, get the rest, get healthy, then think about playing football again.

The same idiots with an agenda to push.

Dope Panther's sport jacket btw.

Following the flawed logic of Mr. Scot, if Cam Newton is halfway out the door already, I don't see how Luke Kuechly isn't right behind him.

If one good performance from the defense in several weeks gives Luke a pass in a losing season where he and the defense often looked lost otherwise, I don't see how Newton doesn't get even a little leeway for how impressive he looked when we were 6-2.

Be consistent.

I mean his shoulder could always be an issue going forward.  It might not hold up to a NFL season.   Those are legit questions and ones we will have to plan for.

I have zero doubt they do clean up and it gets healthy enough to go into next season to try it out again.

Based on who Cam is, what he has meant to us, how good he can be and his contract......2019 is not the year that parting with Cam is on the table.   That would be 2020.   I wouldn't be opposted to bringing in QB talent in 2019 though.  Would be smart.

Asking for consistency is pretty funny coming from you :)

My most consistent thing though is that I prefer not to engage in useless conversations with moronic trolls whose opinions are generally worthless.

Also, when Luke was struggling or missing time for concussions I don't recall one peep about his contract hurting our salary cap.

But now that Cam is injured suddenly we just have to unload that contract.

People try to hide it, but they aren't that good at it.
