Some here are saying that Hurney will go, but other than he was hired by Richardson, I haven't heard many reasons.  He has been back one year, and the roster moves/draft (other than keeping Gano over Butker) have been solid.   I don't get the impression that Tepper is the kind of guy that will fire someone simply because he is a holdover from the previous regime, but I suppose we will see.

You have to evaluate the full roster, not the individual moves. On the whole, this year's roster isn't that good.

Beyond that though, Roaring Riot actually made a pretty good point. The people that David Tepper has brought into the organization this year are top of their game, world-class individuals.

And then there's Marty Hurney, a guy who couldn't get a phone call from any organization in the NFL except the one that was run by his buddy.

In that environment, Hurney looks like the kid who struggles with basic math sitting in the middle of an advanced calculus classroom.

Tepper spent years as part of an organization that did everything top notch from the ownership down to the janitor. he's made clear that he's committed to winning and he's expecting the best out of everybody. Meanwhile, we as Panther fans justify sticking by somebody because "well, he's not that bad".

In an organization that wants to be the best in every way, I can't really imagine Marty Hurney sticking around for long.

More than effort in meaningful games?  Says something about the players, not much at all about the coaches.  The fact that the games are meaningless speaks volumes about both.

When players don't go 100% when a coach is on the hot seat it normally means they've lost the locker room which is very bad.  Also, says a lot about a player that doesn't give 100% all the time.  This was the only point I was trying to make and I agree with a lot of your points, but I still think RR will be back next year.

I mean, this isn’t shocking news but Mike Freeman reporting that multiple front office folks around the league feel like major changes are on the way in Carolina.

I think Freeman perfectly nails how damn frustrating it is to watch the Panthers week in and week out, and year in and year out for that matter.

”The Panthers are the NFC version of the Pittsburgh Steelers. They should be so much better and simultaneously so much worse. In the first quarter, they awe you; in the second, they disgust you; in the second half, your eyes pop out of your head and then glaze over.

Several front-office sources in both conferences believe the chaotic nature of the Panthers will result in massive changes this offseason.”

That's an interesting comparison. Pittsburgh has held onto Mike Tomlin and keeps going to the playoffs just about every year. Wonder what we will do.

I hear John Fox is available. He promises to get us back to a respectable 7-9 within the first season...and also the next 4.

So basically, you propose we return to "expansion team" status, only without the extra draft picks and less cap room than three quarters of the league.

This makes no sense. An expansion team starts off with no roster.

This team has decent building blocks What they are missing is an above average front office and a coach who knows what he's doing.

DT is not someone who is going to put up with mediocrity. He has spent the last 6 months seeing an organization being run like a family business from the 80's. That doesn't work in todays NFL.

Next season the panthers will have a modern front office being run out of their new practice facility in SC. No more radio host in charge of the roster and no more coach who thinks football should be played like it was in the 80's.

Not sure how you fire a former NFL Coach of the Year - who was 11-5 last year - b/c he has a QB who cant throw beyond 15 yards...heck, cant throw 5 yards accurately right now. I think it is amazing that we only lost the last 5 games by 7 or less. Be careful what you ask for, because you might get it.

You mean the same coach of the year who sucks every other year

who manages to be on the wrong side of humiliation on nationally televised games

who knew his qb had shoulder surgery and did bother to bring in a decent backup

who has a defense that has several players starting, not spot playing, on the wrong side of 30, two closer to 40

who has zero, and I mean zero game time / situational game skills

i think we already know how lucky we are with our average ‘just a guy’ coach
