Would you re-sign the Panther LEGEND Thomas Davis.......

I would. He played lights out against the Saints, and showed that with a decent defensive coordinator our old defense might still have some left in the tank.

A lot may depend on Shaq, though.  We won't do it, but I'd think long and hard about getting rid of him.  Could be a decent trade candidate, a cut candidate due to the 9 million cap hit...or he gets an extension and lowers that hit.  The thought of Shaq getting an 8 mil/year extension or something from us makes me shiver.

I just think it would benefit him being that he wants to play one more year and the Panthers, if he plays at the same level he has been lately on a team friendly deal. We already have to fill holes at DT, DE, nickel CB, maybe safety depending on signing Reid and if the rookie works out , guard, possibly tackle depending on Williams, Center, possibly backup QB.

I stand by my statement.  It's time to let go, it's overdue.

For a veeeeery friendly price, yes. Otherwise, it's time to move on for all involved. TD is great, and has played out of his mind lately But, moving forward, we have too many young guys who will need paying in the next 2-3 years. Can't afford to pay somebody that is on the last leg of their career.

About the only older vet who can still contribute to this team is TD....sure he is slower and not the best in coverage, but he still has that motor.....the rest are done. A team friendly contract and worry about a LB in 2020. The Dline, safety and Oline need rescue first.

I would be very happy if it were a team friendly deal. But I completely understand if TD doesn't want to do that. I just don't think his play justifies a huge contract anymore, outside of the Saints game he has been pretty pedestrian this year.

Then there's the very interesting case of Shaq, who stands to make ~9 million next season if we do the final year of his rookie deal. Might want to just go ahead and sign Shaq for longterm now at around 7-8 mill a year if he will do it.
