Cam has to seek help outside the panthers medical staff

100% agreed. TD's first two ACL reconstructions were done by team doctors. He finally went to Dr. James Andrews for the third one and then like magic he's never had another issue since. Hint: I don't think it was magic.

Different procedure. More invasive, longer healing, but better rate of success.

I find it amusing that the media have been trying to get a hold of anyone on the teams medical staff for the past 2 days, and no one will do it.

Obviously they're hiding something or not very confident in their diagnosis.

HIPPA prevents disclosure of medical info without patient's consent. Has Cam told anyone what was wrong?

My point is when dealing with a chronic, recurring, acute issue go to the experts for that particular issue. Don't keep relying on the team doctors who are without a doubt doing their best, but they likely aren't the top experts for this in this particular field. I mean, let's say you continue to have recurring GI issues and your general care practitioner has tried this and tried that and it's just not getting any better. At what point do you suck it up and go to a gastroenterologist who actually specializes specifically in GI issues? It just makes sense, right? It doesn't mean your general practitioner was an idiot or wasn't doing their job, they just weren't an expert in that particular field.

I'm pretty sure they couldn't discuss his medical condition anyway, there is a thing called HIPAA that prevents it.

Sorry, just saw the other post.

HIPAA excludes employers. The medical staff is paid for by the Panthers.

Why do you think there is an injury report every week?

The information given on injury reports is very basic and the players agree to release it. HIPPA does usually exclude employers but not healthcare providers which the trainers and the medical staff are under. The question isn't whether employers can be privy to information usually.limited by HIPPA, but whether that would give them the right to release player healthcare information to the general public without regard for the player's wishes particularly if they objected.  Having access to information is difference than carte blanche to do anything with that information.

The team has orthopedic surgeons they use for consultation including Andrews. Of course you wouldn't use team doctors without getting a second or even a third opinion and finding out who is the best in the world. The Panthers and Cam would both have a 100 million dollar incentive to make sure that any decision they make would be successful. Your post insinuated that the team doctors were a bunch of quacks or shouldn't be trusted. Do you really think the Panthers would object to Cam getting outside opinions? It just follows your negative dialogue about anyone on the Panthers caring about poor old Cam.
