That's what I've been trying to tell everyone. Like it or not, Ron's going to be our coach next year. The only way he's going to be fired if he doesn't come up with anything other than 7-9. Especially if we start like we did in '16 (1-5 in the first 6 weeks?).

by default, next year we will have a winning season... its the next phase in the cycle.

Lmao. How have people been watching this team for this long and keep falling for this charade? Every last misfortunate gives Ron an excuse for his imcompetency and gives him another year to ruin another season and find another excuse. Was Cam not healthy when the Steelers scored 100 points on us in the biggest game of the year up to that point? Does a healthy QB make him play more talented younger players instead of garbage vets like Matt Kalil and Devin Funchess and Torrey Smith? Does a healthy QB help him find an actual coordinator instead of just promoting an unqualified positions coach?

Perhaps you are correct, but I'l say that the grass isn't always greener and it is no easy task to find quality NFL head coaches.  More often than not, NFL head coaches fail and maybe it is time to move on from RR and take the risk, but I personally would give him another year because I think this team is still very talented.

I would take Bruce Arians or Jim Harbaugh in a second, but I don't think either of those two are in play.  I would not be wild about promoting a coordinator and taking that risk that he fails with the talent this team has.

Theres dozens of Ron Riveras you can find though. In fact we already had one named John Fox. Those defensive minded coaches that play conservative and focus on ball control football all usually have the same success. They hover between 6-10 wins per season every year and when they have more talent than usual or the ball bounces their way more in close games they have the 11 and 12 win seasons. Think Fox, Rivera, Lovie Smith, Mike Smith etc. The coaches that have the same philosphy usually really only fail when they have a scrub QB or are really bleeding talent-wise. Those are your Gus Bradleys, Steve Wilks, Jim Schwartz coaches. Its been proven that playing defensive, ball control football is typically gonna always keep you in at least the 7 win range

You think our offense is conservative?

I'm not saying Ron is the best coach in the world, but he isn't the reason this team is struggling.  Give him a healthy QB and no doubt this team is in the playoffs. Defense is much improved since he took the reigns.

Then ask him to take a demotion to DC and get a HC with an offensive philosophy who can manage a clock
