Could Norv stick around with Ron gone?

Don’t understand why Norv feels the need to abandon the run game when we’re only down a score. And why is he asking Cam to throw 40 times a game knowing his shoulder hurts

Teams stack the box heavily because they know Cam is too hurt to throw over top... do you run into 8,9,and 10 man boxes or do you pass with a hurt Newton? I do think he should have ran it more though.

Seems like he abandoned it, but I'm looking at it a bit differently.

We have been in a bad funk on offense, and the defense finally played up to it's billing this week, but were pretty average the rest of the year.  At the end of the day, we needed to score more points than we were....so running into obvious walls was not the answer.

So, I'm kinda with you, it did seem like he forgot to run the ball, but at the end of the day, those would likely be wasted downs, when we really needed to have really long drives to keep their D on the field.

Norv has done a pretty damn good job, but it's time.

I'd be totally down with it, but it won't happen. First, he retired in the middle of '16 simply b/c they were losing & he wasn't getting along with Zimmer. Second, him & Ron go WAY back so he's probably coaching as a favor to Ron. Third, he'll be turning 67 in May & NC is his home state so this is probably going to be his last rodeo.

Yea I think above has done a good, not great, job. I was thinking great for a while, but there have been some head scratchers lately.  Still very good and light years ahead of Shula. But highly unlikely norv stays after ron is gone. Ron is probably the only reason norv came in the first place

Norv has overall actually done a very good job. Yes at times playcalling has seemed like Shula is back here but for the most part it's been solid and in terms of implementing his offensive gameplan he's done a superb job. Cam was having a career year before his arm went out, McC has looked like one of the best playmakers in the league, and young guys like Moore, Samuel and Thomas have shown tremendous improvement over the course of the season. All this with questionable personnel on the OL.

In recent years there have been several cases of incoming head coaches keeping a coordinator from the past regime in place, so it's not really unheard of. It definitely depends on who the head coach coming in is, what side of the ball his specialty is and any past experience with Norv, but I do think Norv has done a well enough job to stick around and be the man in charge of the offense. I guess he could also decide he doesn't want to stick around without Ron as it did seem he came back to coaching partially due to his past relationship with Ron.

What would you guys think of keeping Norv here without Ron?

Norv's red zone calls has cost us many games.  Its his first year with us, so there might be grace there.  I'm not impressed with Norv right now.

zero chance. he's done a bang-up job but a new coach is going to bring in his own staff.

Yea the usual morons are saying he didn't but anyone with at least 2 brain cells knows Norv has done well with this offense and if Cam was 100% it'd have been ridiculous.

We were 6-2 entirely because of the offense and with a competent defense 8-0 or 7-1 start would have been likely. (and most of our losses even with a poo stain defense and injured Cam were by 1 TD or less)
