Cam Newton wasted time signaling first down, talking to Saints before halftime

There are a good bit of posters in this thread that are dismissing Cam's failure entirely because of Rivera failing as well. These very same individuals that if we were to create a thread, right now, and rant about Rivera needing to have called the time out, would be absent entirely from mentioning that Cam should be blamed too. Mike Tomlin could be the coach and I'm comfortable with assuming the reaction towards him would be the same as what Rivera is currently receiving. I don't think that it is as much about racism as much as it is a zealous adoration of Cam where any fault of his needs to be immediately dismissed/trivialized because if not then some racist in the Tinderbox wins.

I have no idea what you're attempting to imply there at the end, but I'm open to understanding how thinking that Cam should have prioritized calling time out over posing puts me "in the same corner as these racists" if you're open to explaining.

From that crowd, at BEST you will get a "yea Cam did or didnt do this, BUT....." and talk about anyone else who missed an opportunity.

Yes of course the sideline should have called a TO as soon as he went down, especially considering the effort he put in to get the first down. BUT as a QB, managing the clock is also your responsibility way before celebrating or rubbing dirt in the other teams face. And to go and throw up that lollipop the very next play just gives all the Cam haters more ammunition to attack him and the Panthers. Just such a great 2 minutes.

I mean... we could create a thread that says "Cam and Ron were both jackasses in this moment" if that's what it takes to get people to not be so insecure about it. poo, I'll go do it! lol

It wont matter, once you're a racist you're always a racist. It's just easier, more convenient and less complicated that way. The boy has cried wolf long enough now it is just humorous to me, or maybe if you repeat something thousands of times, you actually believe it to be factual. God forbid Panther fans just want to win but these guys are so warped they actually believe some fans would rather lose so they have a good chance to call out a player on a message board because that is SO much more satisfying than winning.

But go ahead and make that thread, you wont only be a hater of black QBs, but Mexican coaches as well. Good luck with that.

If you're referring to me I have not dismissed his failures. I flat out said it was inexcusable to throw 4 picks just the other week. You know why? Because it was. He even said so himself. He took responsibility for it like he always has.

But this hand wringing over miniscule factors like showing emotion just honestly makes me sick and it's just indicative of how little progress we've actually made as a nation in the year 2018. You can rationalize it however you like, but the people giving you the most emphatic high fives on that are in fact the racists of our fanbase. I've seen your posts over the years, and I don't think you are one of them. But I'm just straight up telling you that this ire about celebrating has been a go to racist dogwhistle since we drafted Cam. It is not remotely disputable. Whether it was the towel, the immaturity tropes, the mom's sending in angry letters because a big black man danced in the end zone, it's all the same smelly poo pile.

But keep trading pie with the likes of posters like @Peppers90 NC as he angrily rants about being called a racist.

Because Cam Newton is the only one capable of calling timeout.  Seriously?

idc who the QB is.... you have to be aware and call timeout.  Brady would get just as ripped if he did exactly what happened on that play. The only reason Cam is under such scrutiny is because he is a QB, and should know how to manage the game, unfortunately i dont think that is in his tool belt. I dont think he has ever been properly coached for that.

Dont put Cam under the same umbrella as Brady, the 19 year vet, it is not fair and borderline racist.

You arent hiding your thinly veiled racism with your humor, we see you.

Oh don't try to distance yourself now that it's more overt than you're used to.

These are your people. Own it. Don't be a little bitch. This is an anonymous message board anyway.
