Cam Newton wasted time signaling first down, talking to Saints before halftime

Yeah, he should've called a timeout, but the sideline can also call a timeout.

This is like bitching about dirty dishes left on the table in a house that's literally on fire and burning to the ground.

Lol so true

i mean yes I’d like to see some awareness by this team but who cares they’re done

Cam needs to take responsibility for his mistakes but is he too big headed?

I don't know what Mike Rob is talking about and should definitely research before he make comments. Cam always said "I" and took responsibility.

Some of you have become sad and pathetic fans. I get criticizing players a little when they screw up or are playing bad, but to go to the extent that some of you are in ostracizing them is pathetic. Be better, jeezus.

And coaches and GM's--welcome to the Forum.

Cam basically has to be an emotionless deaf mute to appease some in this fanbase. Of course then they'll blast him for not being enough of a "leader".

Awareness of time remaining on the play clock or game clock has proven to be a problem for Cam. Emotions are fine if you recognize the  appropriate time and place. Watch the other top QBs when time is critical.  They don't waste it.

Lol so dumb...  and if he completes that TD to Funchess right after, no one cares or remembers.  In fact, he still had time for 2 or 3 more plays from the spot we were at even after that...

Also, if you didnt see, after he walked to the sideline when the timeout was called, Ron was smiling and clapping energetically while praising Cam.  So, for those Anti-Cam guys, his coach didn't care or try to call the timeout either lol.

With 34 seconds left in the first half on Monday night, Panthers quarterback Cam Newton ran up the middle for a first down. The clock was running, and he should have either called timeout immediately or hurried the offense back to the line. That’s not what he did.

Instead, Newton got up, walked toward the end zone, made a first down signal, and then slowly walked back toward the line of scrimmage, stopping to exchange words with Saints linebacker Alex Anzalone. The Panthers finally called timeout with 23 seconds remaining before halftime.

Newton had wasted 11 seconds, and two plays later he threw an interception in the end zone. It’s impossible to say what would have happened if Newton had managed the clock better, but it seems likely that the Panthers wouldn’t have called a pass into the end zone if they had had more time at that point.

So while the biggest question surrounding Newton pertains to the health of his shoulder, it’s also fair to question his decision-making. A quarterback in his eighth NFL season should be better at managing the clock than Newton was late in the first half on Monday night.

This exact series of questionable decisions from a year 8 QB made me wonder where his head is at. Cam, who I will normally support and defend to the nth degree lost me for a second with those shenanigans.

The lack of situational game awareness that he had at that moment just is inexcusable. Then just carelessly flinging a pass to Funchess who is even more mentally checked out made less sense.

It was a weird call from Turner as I have have seen Cam successfully complete a fade route once out of what seems like 40 passes.

Cam needs to shut it down bc passes with a bum shoulder count too.
