Disaapointed with Norv

We all know Cam is hurt.  It's a fairly good bet that the rest of league knows as well.  As such, it's a fairly sure bet that they scheme us up knowing that because of Cam's injury we're going to be less likely to run him, and we aren't going to throw deep at all.  Even our intermediate passing is sketchy.

When a defense is only forced to defend the line of scrimmage plus 15 yards or so, it becomes immeasurably easier to scheme.  Oh, and our line sucks.

In short, our offense has had issues all season.  In the beginning, we were able to scheme around those deficiencies and make it work.  But as injuries to Cam and others have continued to narrow the playbook, it's become increasingly hard to fool opposing defenses.

I'm not sure how some people can't see this.

if norv knows cam is hurt... run cam more in the redzone.  so run the hurt qb more is what you're saying?  hmmmm?  idk if you've thought your cunning plan all the way thru

So attempt 40 pass attempts with a injured qb? I swear some of you don’t pay attention, cam has stated time after time after time he takes his big hits inside of the pocket instead of outside. Broadcaster even said it last night, 3rd and short should be a qb sneak nearly every time

At the begining of the season, CMC actually had holes to run through, with a dumpster fire offensive line, Cam was stepping up into the pocket, we were looking better than we had for years.  Then the Steelers showed everyone how to make swiss cheese out of the oline and Norv never managed to adjust and recover.  His redzone O has been the worst I've seen in 5 years.

Is he the one gone at the end of the season?

I assure you RR will NOT let the D regress like the poo we saw this season again.  God, I wish RR would just be our DC.

Norv has been great this year.

People always come back to this narrative that coaches can scheme a fix for anything.  Doesn't work like that in the NFL.  Eventually in the NFL your talent holes get exploited and are what they are.

Norv has a bad OL that has gotten worse as the season goes on and a QB that has gotten more injured as the season goes on.  Best OC in the NFL isn't going to look like it in that scenario in the NFL.

Even harder when you don't try. I'm not advocating running all the time, but yeah, probably more than four times in a half when it's the only thing working.

Turner did the same thing when he was the HC in Washington.  He was also calling the offensive plays, as he had no true OC (he had a running game coordinator and a passing game coordinator under him).  The Redskins would build a halftime lead by pounding he ball down the throat of sometimes better opponents, then run the ball three times in the second half and lose.  So it is not out of character for him.

We coincidentally did the exact same thing with Seifert. 1999, led 21-0 over Washington, as it were, thanks to Tim Biakabutuka, then we started slinging it, going 3 and out enough to lose 35-31.

If we all know Cams hurt and can't throw the ball down the field then you can bet other teams know it as well and are selling out to stop the run. Its really not that difficult to figure out why we have come to a grinding halt on offense.

Didnt Shula have to deal with Cams shoulder?  He still went 11-5. I know its popular to poo on Shula....but Norv hasnt been better by a mile. Mcaffery"s numbers are better this year but were losing. The redzone play calling is horrendous. The pass to Funchess should have never been called with what they know about Cams shoulder. Theres a reason Norv has bounced around eternally and why he was out of football.

I agree. He’s a bit hamstrung and unfortunately I feel like Cam knowing his shoulder is hurt is digressing a bit in terms of mechanics and reads. There were so many bad throws and it’s not easy to move the ball when that happens. When Ds were worried about every spot on the field and the running threat it opened more holes and now those are closed and someone like Eli Apple looks all world.

The prob with Norv is his redzone playcalling. The Oline seems to hold up enough to move from 20 to 20.

15 carries for CMC

Cam shoulder fuged up

It should be 80-20 run to pass. I don't give a fug if we have to give 25 carries to CAP,  I dont't care. I dont care if we lose, but since you won't sit Cam the least you can do is keep Cam on a limited amount of throws

I don't get it, I don't get anything that's happening with this team. I'm waiting for a complete change.
