Same situation?

We were 14 million over the cap when Gettleman took over and finished the season with a losing record.

Gettleman left Hurney a team that went 11-5, made the playoffs, had cap space and added one of the best defensive weapons this team has ever seen.

A year later, we're set to have one of the worst collapses in history.

Gettleman isn't coming back. Hurney shouldn't be.

Do you really, honestly think that Gettleman did that much better of a job than Hurney, and left the team in good shape upon his departure, or is this just the hill you've decided to die on? You're unusually emotional about this and I find that alone to be hilarious.

I find it more hilarious that you think you can read emotions through a message board.

Four out of five years Gettleman built rosters that went to the playoffs (and this was Ron Rivera as his coach). Hurney hasn't had four playoff teams in twelve seasons.

It's not that hard to figure out who's done a better job.

Yeah but Jerry Reese won two Super Bowls and had a career winning percentage of about 52% with the Giants. I thought results mattered.

I'm guessing this actually made sense to you somehow

About as little sense as boiling down a GM to simply wins and losses on the field. Because if we apply that same logic to say....head coach, why would we have ever fired John Fox? Or why would we ever fire Ron Rivera? After all, at their times they both represented the most successful periods in their history. Right?

It's pretty easy to read your emotions actually. You mad.

Yeah. Why measure by wins and losses? There's much more important things than that, right?

Fox had a lot of success early but afterward went several years with mediocre performances. Then despite his overall mediocre record he went into the team offices and demanded to be paid like one of the top coaches in the league. The team declined, so he mailed it in his final year. He wasn't fired. He just didn't get renewed.

As for Reese, yeah he was pretty successful but then the team fell off the map. I didn't really care that much at the time. Still dont, but hey...

You're not important enough in my life to make me mad, dude :)

Honestly, outside of the fact the fact the Panthers lost last night, I'm having a pretty good day (my wife helped a lot).

I just find it funny that you still have such a hard on for a guy that was clearly falling off the map as well. Just let it go. He's gone, he went on to improve the Giants from last in the division to....well...last in the division.

Not a clue :eyeroll:

The notion that Gettleman was "falling off" when the last roster he built went to the playoffs and gave us our primary offensive weapon right now is just ignorant.

His firing was one of the last acts of a dumbass owner that is, thankfully, not our problem anymore. Unfortunately, his other last act was to stick us with Marty Hurney. Hopefully, that's about to be fixed too.

What I want now is for my team to be better than it currently is. That means moving on from the mediocre leadership we currently have to something better.

Gettleman isn't coming back. Nor do I want him to, but I do want someone better than Marty Hurney.

Lol, Gettleman wanted to trade up for Fournette. He had to be talked against that move. Cam and some team personnel stated that he was too similar to Stewart and McCaffrey would provide a nice contrast in style. Thank goodness Gettleman listened.

Hey, I'll take that over trying to trade up for Jimmy Clausen :shades:
