The 2 most concerning things I've seen Cam do during this losing streak have nothing to do with his shoulder or mechanics or accuracy

I'm sure the pain is excruciating, and that in turn affects his mental focus.  When I had a shoulder injury, i was constantly thinking ahead to the enxt play or the next lift to try to mitigate the pain...  then once it flared up again, I was trying to minimize usage so I could alleviate it.  So, I'm sure, at least subconsciously it affects decisions and focus, it's only natural...

He also just had a child, and that could definitely affect his focus as well for the first few weeks with a newborn.

I also wanted to say, there was something weird last night I noticed with his feet and dropping back...  and i'm not referring to passing footwork, but whem he was actually receiving the snap and dropping back before he ever threw.  I'll have to go back and watch the game again, but something just seemed off, like i hadn't seen before.  There was a hitch like he was favoring something, and then when it was a designed run as well.  It's like he was setting up slowly, and more gingerly each play, so as to not pull his full weight on one foot at any point.  Hard to describe, but it just seemed weird.

And about getting up slowly out of the huddle...  i've been pointing that out all year.  You can tell how bad he's hurting, bc he did the same thing down the stretch in '16.

Cam had ankle surgery when?  Before the 2015 or the 2016 season?

Cam has been put in a position to fail by Rivera and Co.. In the second offensive series of the game, Cam Jordan targeted his shoulder with his helmet and speared him after he released the ball. He was grimacing for the rest of the game. These guys are out to hurt Cam, not just throw him off of his game. He's still consistently targeted and defenses still get away with the lion's share of the abuse. Cam is not going to complain, he's not going to ask to be taken out of the game. I don't think an elite level QB should mentally have to do that. That's tantamount to 'quitting' and I can't imagine the impact that would have on the psyche of a professional athlete. Rivera should have benched him, assessed his shoulder and made the tough choice to get him fixed for next year. THAT in my mind would have forgiven Rivera for the losing streak. If Rivera had shown that he was willing to look bad in order to do what's best for the team, I'd have no problem giving him another year.

Fandom aside, this man is obviously in a large amount of pain. Like someone else said, the worst thing he’s done/doing is to continue playing. He doesn’t need to prove anything to anybody. Sitting the rest of the season, heck sit out next season. All that matters is that he gets well for his career and life beyond football.
