No doubt in my mind and this was intentional.  It is sad when a player intentionally tries to hurt another player just to get him out of the game.

I'm not so sure. If Watt goes high, he might get a roughing call. If he goes low, he also might get a roughing call. The officials haven't left much more than the chest/shoulder for the defensive lineman to hit without fear of a flag.

Even this pic doesn’t do that hit justice.  It was more of a spearing helmet to shoulder hit.   Should have been flagged in my opinion.  Watt could have easily wrapped him up and tackled him there.  He didn’t ,but instead lunged head first into his shoulder.  Knew right when it happened Cam was hurt.  Hasn’t been the same since.

It was a smart play, and what defenders are taught from pup league.  Take out the threats.  Don't try to injure anyone, but if you can, neutralize the threat.

Should it have been an penalty in 2018?  Yes.  In 2005?  No.

I too thought he was targeting the shoulder, but I'm also one on here that has said for a couple years that something wasn't right with his shoulder, but all I got in response were " O line is trash" comments....per usual.

I would love to understand what the haters explain for the difference in Cam's stats before this hit and after

I also would love to know why Ron kept him in the game deep into the 4th quarter of that one....which probably hurt him even further

Can’t be said more plainly than that.. there’s a part of this fan base that has me about to have a Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunderesque blow up

I hear ya about the take out a player via a “clean” to border line dirty hit.  From there I go to , if you have no trust in your backup QB that you have to play you starter who can’t even make basic throws and nothing more than ten yards then I put some blame on Hurney and Rivera if he has a say in who they sign etc.  It’s pretty telling when you starter is hurt, can’t make throws and he is still your best and only option.  That’s on whoever is in charge of the roster.

I guess this is why they try to protect the QBs more and more.  It’s such a QB driven league and sucks that a season goes down the tubes when one gets hurt.

Oh, you probably don't know about my post history around here if you think that I will back up Ron or Marty.  They are both awful, and need to be shown the door.  Preferably at the same time.

That said, I do not think that Cam actually does give us the best chance right now.  We may not win with our backup, but hopefully we could get Cam on a road to recovery with a 3/4 week head start.  This season is lost, and we need to protect our QB...even from himself.

Right...if you don’t trust your backup to play when your QB can’t get the ball past 10 yards then why is he your backup. What’s he even on the team for?
