coach or gm first?

I would actually prefer us to move on the GM front first, if there was a change to be made there. Then let the GM determine if he wants to ride it out with Rivera or hire his own coaches (which I would expect a GM to want to do). I would think a GM would want to put his own stamp on the team and Tepper should step out of the way and allow for it to happen.

I have zero desire to keep a coach that I know is bad just because his replacement might also be bad.

His replacement might also be good. Rivera isnt, and after eight years of having the same weaknesses and making the same mistakes, he's not going to suddenly turn good just because we give him one more season.

As to Marty, the more of his stamp that gets put on this team, the worse it's going to be. Just...no.

Most definitely the GM.  If Tepper really wants to be a hands-off guy than he'll hire a GM that will do things that way that he wants them done.

That said, He needs to work fast to hire a GM so HC candidates can be interviewed before all the good ones are hired.   It would suck if Tepper takes his time to hire a new GM and all the possible good HC are already signed.  Then you are getting retreads or questionable HC and we'll be pulling a Cleveland or TB every other year.

Agreed that Tepp will hire a new GM prior to 2019 season, and he will be hands off as it goes to player management.

That said, "good HC" candidates present themselves every year, no need to rush.

We sit around too long and the ones that we should target will be long gone.  We might get lucky and nail one late but best bet is to be in the mix from day one.

From everything I've read, Tepper isn't a micromanger. He puts what he believes are good people into jobs, lets them do the job, and then evaluates the result. On the basis of that, he would first hire a GM. The GM's job then becomes to hire the HC and Tepper evaluates the GM on that choice.

I think it's also informative to look at the moves being made (hiring the Steeler's stadium development guy) as well as the news about the projects in York County. That's appears to be where Tepper's mind and focus are at right now. Less so on the GM/HC.

That guy is a dipp

I'm betting you think he's a dipp because he doesn't think like you, you who have had several front office jobs and played in the league for several years before that.  Get over yourself!
