Historic collapse if finishing 6 and 10

The1996 Redskins started out 7-1, only to finish at 9-7, thanks to a 2-6 mark in the second half of the season

The 2000 Redskins also came out with a 6-2 record to start the year, and repeated exactly what the 1996 team did by going 2-6 in the second half to finish at 8-8 and out of the playoffs

Interesting fact: Norv Turner was Head Coach for both of those Redskin Teams.

As if I don’t feel bad enough about this year

The worst I remember was the 78 Redskins getting to 6-0, then finishing 8-8 and losing their last 5.  We do have a shot at eclipsing that.

If We can't be Tampa I doubt we beat ATL or NO. We are a better team but this team has problems.

Mediocre teams tend to fluctuate during the season. They'll be world beaters for a couple of weeks (Tampa Bay, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, Indianapolis, etc.) and then drop a few puzzling games. Tampa Bay now is playing much better than Tampa Bay of five weeks ago. Atlanta has pretty much sucked the entire year. The Panthers are a wild-card - we don't know what they are going to do from week-to-week. The way things are going, they better hope they have at least a two touchdown lead going into the second half.

Oh, I'm pretty sure we know what they are going to do:

Give up an 80-yard touchdown on the opponent's opening drive, take a 17-14ish lead into the fourth quarter, give up a touchdown, drive downfield, get first and goal at the 2, throw four times, fourth-down pass goes into the stands, lose 21-17.

Atlanta and Carolina are both getting worse as the season progresses. Our best chance for a win with the remaining schedule is obviously Atlanta. Head to head I like the Falcons, and it's better for us draft wise to lose. We can't throw the deep ball, our defense is the worst I can remember as a Panthers fan, Cam is hurt, and many of our players don't appear to be giving 100% anymore.

The Saints should be able to put a 50 burger on us at their place, and I seriously doubt we can keep it close at their place. Hopefully the teams ahead of us in the draft start winning.

Our defense is legitimately the worst it's been since 2001, and it's right there with 1998 and 2001 as the worst ever. I see max effort from:

Luke

Jackson, TD and Pep tend to play pretty hard too. Everyone else on defense mailed it in weeks ago. Except for maybe Adams, I can't tell if he doesn't try or he's just that bad now.

Having Adams as our last line of defense is a new low for the Panthers safety position, and we've had some terrible safeties.

When you're scratching you head trying to figure out if a defender is terrible or isn't trying you know you need to blow it up. I don't want any old on their last leg players on this team. Dump them before they're too old, and don't bring in ancient FAs.

Jackson is fast but you have to help him over the top. TD looks slow to me, but other fans are saying he's fine. Peppers is a freak of nature but father time is undefeated.

Overall we're too slow on defense.

I just want us to lose out and get the draft pick. IF winning out were possible I'd say let's do it, but losing 2 out of 3 instead of 3 out of 3 may push us way down the draft chart.  Love him or hate him, Hurney has been money with first round picks, and we have a good shot and drafting an insanely talented, all world player with Hurney making the pick.

You might be over rating the level of player we might be getting.  I think wed max out around pick 10-13 even if we lose out,  just by virtue of us having 6 wins and there being a ton of mediocre 3 4 5 6 win teams in the nfl this year.

This is mostly the same team and the same head coach that had the biggest decline in wins from one season to another ever too: 15 in 2015 to 6 in 2016.

From 15-1 to 6-10 with an executive of the year and head coach of the year helming the front office.

Yet people still try to make excuses for both of them.

Weve had tons of oppurtunities to draft good safteys,  thats on the hurney and gettleman for constantly under valuing the position to the point where we never draft safteys in high rounds and always put no name or aging cheap FAs back there.

It really should not be a suprise we get burned by so many big plays.

If you have Peppers in his prime with Kris Jenkins, then having poop at safety isn't too bad. When you have KK taking a nap, and Poe goes from the dacing bear to the lumbering lummox, then the safeties are going to be tested. Our safeties are not good test takers.

Luke and Cam were both injured in 2016. Cam got hurt in Pittsburgh this year, and we haven't won since.

No excuses, I still don't want Hurney or Rivera retained. We need new leadership top to bottom.

The 1995 Raiders might be the worst collapse, currently.  They started 8-2, had the best record in the NFL after 11 weeks.  Finished losing their last 6 to finish 8-8 and out of the playoffs.  We are not their, yet.  Just FYI, John Fox was the D  coordinator.
