Retooling needed

What a sad ending to what I thought would be an amazing season.  Optimistically, I hope we win out and sneak into the playoffs and go all the way.

Realistically, We're done.

Outside of the firings which i expect as soon as the final snap is taken in January or Black Monday

I think our new GM is going to have his hands full.

When the smoke clears and all the players hit Free Agency or Retire this is who I see is left (starter wise)

Offensively WR Moore and Samuel, TE Thomas, OL Moton, Turner, Williams, RB, CMC, QB Cam and FB, Armah (if new OC uses a FB) (Center and Guard missing)

Defensively DE Addison, DT Short, LB Luke, Shaq, CB Jackson, Bradberry  (DT, DE, LB, S), Reid (probably one and done)

ST  K Gano, Palardy and Jansen

The rest of the roster is obviously a matter of opinion.  Who I would like to see stay. Alphabetically, Carter, Cox Jr, Gaulden, Haynes, Heinicke, Horton, Larsen, Obada, , A. Smith,  Van Roten.

OT Williams is a Free Agent but, depending on that knee, who knows what his value will be or what will someone pay him.  DT.  Poe wasn't the answer and we can do better.  DE I wish the ageless wonder would hang around but his numbers are declining.  Hopefully  a couple of rookies pick up the slack and fill in for TD and Gaulden takes one of the safety position.

Depending on Cap space we need to be highly proactive in free agency and address most of our needs.  We did pretty good in 2018 draft 1,2 and 4 seems to have panned out pretty well.  The next GM will have to be stellar from day one or 2019 won't be much prettier than 2018.

Only optimistic if the new gm has a clear vision and sense of urgency to get the most out of our hof players before there window is closed. That includes dumping heavy resources in both d line and the o line this upcoming offseason more so the d line, and not getting complacent and constantly churning the roster to make sure we have the best 53. If that’s not what the new gm brings I rather let hurney hold the spot until the right candidate comes along instead of rushing a hire. Dg was too complacent, and hurney 1.0 big risk trades were flops, need a gm somewhere in the middle of both
