Panthers have never had a safety make the pro bowl

In the the 23 year history we have had a pro bowl player at every single position except safety, pretty crazy how we have never adressed that position. 

 

Some recent studies have said safety is the most important position in defense, even though I’m not sure I agree with that, still a good safety covers up a lot flaws

Minter and Grant were a solid combo.

Minter was not that good. in his prime he was what Reid is now. a run support SS with passable coverage skills and a great leader of men. to be a great safety you have to be great in coverage.

yeah its not like weve never had really good safeties. Cota was good also havent seen him mentioned.  It does seem like Ron doesnt value the position as much.

Minter was a fine safety in his era.  That era had a place and role for box safeties, and he was more than adequate as such.

really?  i thought minter or chris harris were alternates or something at least once.  guess not.

WTF  is with all this until Reid BS.   Since Reid came our defense has been shating the bed and I've just seen JAG performance from him just like most of the defense.    I think he's better then what we had but still our problems are mostly with coverage because of our lack of pass rush.
