Kawann Short is a fat lazy bum

This is the second post I have made now pointing out a critical defensive play where Short looks like he is just completely half-assing it and could give two shits what is going on. We are terrible on third and long for numerous reasons but Short may be one of the biggest factors. It's like if it is third and long he just doesn't give a fug. My last example was in the Steelers game where the only two pass rushers were Luke and him and he literally tried to push two blockers for a few seconds and then just gave up and stood there while Luke was trying to bull rush 3 linemen. We all remember how that turned out.

Now lets take a look at this shining example of fuging piss poor effort.

3rd and 17 and only half way through the second quarter. Short pushes his blocker and the blocker stumbles a bit leaving short with a wide open shot to obliterate Mayfield and KK just stops for a second like he can' believe he isn't being blocked. Rather than sprinting and trying to get a hit on the QB, he barley starts to jog and watches Baker fling a 51 yard TD bomb.

Just fuging cut this fat pos already I don't care what the dead cap hit is.

I don't know why he's playing this way

Is it doing it on purpose? Is he hurt? He's just about to turn 30, did father time kick already? For the money he's making, we need answers.

For the next 3 years post-June cut says dead money 4 mil, cap savings 13-14 mil

While that may seem palpable on the surface, you can't simply cut everyone and eat all that dead money.  Sure, you can ditch one or maybe two really awful contracts, but is KK really that cut?  I'd argue that Matt Kalil is probably a better target for a June 1 cut.

Honestly, we probably won't know until after the draft.  A lot will depend on FA and draft as to who we cut and who we keep.  We can look at the numbers all we like, but until we know what the actual options are, it doesn't mean all that much.

He's the best D lineman we have, and he's surrounded by aged and/or mediocre talent. Just like Luke looks like crap when the D line can't get him clean, KK looks bad when he's required to do too much. He's a great DT, but he's not really elite. He could look elite with another great DT next to him, but he's not really a game changer by himself. We should absolutely keep him, and surround him with youth and talent. I think it's true that Rivera has lost the players. Some of the better players on our team seem to be phoning it in. I can't imagine how frustrating it is to consistently hold offenses to a 3rd and long only to have Captain Munchkinland get beat over the top, or Bradberry whiff on a straightforward tackle.

Addison is a lot better.

    • Happy Thanksgiving y’all. Thankful for a very good team and for this group to talk canes.  Eat drink celebrate our win bs the rags. This team is cup ready.
    • I don't think should be seen as an insult, legitimately. Teddy's floor was consistently a good game manager to his ceiling of border-line top 10 QB who's arm strength didn't blow you away but could make all the throws and generally made good decisions and had some sneaky athleticism.  Teddy started on quite a few teams. He had a good start to his career, had a horrific injury that could have ended his career, came back and played himself into being a starter, got a contract here (and subsequently became another victim of Tepper's impetuousness), and then started games for a few other teams. Teddy could have been a franchise QB had he not suffered a freak injury, and then he just never ended up in another stable situation. He still had a good NFL career that could have been great without that injury. Teddy before that injury did look like a franchise QB, and I dont think that's a bad comp for Young nor an insult in terms of what his career could be based on that comparison.
    • Absolutely the wrong take. We have to run and gun. We have zero post presence. We just have to make shots. We just can't hit water from a boat tonight and we're turning it over to boot. Then you have a poor shooting opponent shooting lights out.  Looks like a long season ahead of us though if Hubert doesn't adapt to this roster. We have to play a pressure trapping D and get out in transition because we aren't beating anyone in the half court.
