Second straight week 2016 first-round pick Vernon Butler has been inactive for the Panthers. Not a good sign for his future. I asked coach Ron Rivera on Friday how Butler responded to being benched last week. He responded that everybody had a good week of practice.

If you're looking for what needs to happen today for the Panthers (6-6) to get back in control of their own destiny they need to beat Cleveland to stop a four-game losing streak. They also need Philadelphia (6-6) to beat Dallas (7-5), the New York Giants to beat Washington (6-6) and Seattle (7-5) to beat Minnesota (6-5-1) on Monday night. If all that happens, to remain totally in control of their playoff future, the Panthers would need to win their final three games against New Orleans (H), Atlanta (H) and New Orleans (A).

I seriously hope we lose today and win no more games. Better draft picks and hopefully a new coach.
