What's with all the 9-7 playoff talk?

Why do so many folks think that 9-7 is going to make the playoffs? Seattle has H2H over us and are playing their best football right now. They are favored to beat Minnesota at home this weekend and have 2 gimmies remaining on the schedule with San Fran and Arizona. I see 9-7 as worst case scenario for them and that would require a Minnesota upset, which is another direct competitor unfortunately, AND KC to win in Seattle with no hunt, which isn't a guarantee. Seattle is unreachable in the playoff race IMO.

On to Minnesota. Sure, they may lose in Seattle this weekend, but do you really think they're going to lose at home to the Dolphins or against the limping Lions squad? Chicago at home would be a tough game in theory, but unfortunately the Bears are most likely resting their starters come week 17. I'm feeling a 9-6-1 finish for the Vikings. I guess we can hope for a 8-7-1 record, but I just don't see it.

Does anyone else secretly hope we get blasted by the Browns on Sunday so we can put Cam on IR to rest him up for next season and be done with Rivera once and for all? Time to get the last remnants of the Richardson era in rear view if you ask me. And this is coming from someone who's about to board a plane for Cleveland in 24 hours and spend almost a thousand dollars of hard earned money to go support his team.

There are 2 wild card spots.  Right now the 6th seed is sitting at 6-5-1, with 4 games to go.  The absolute best they can finish is 10-5-1.  Chances are they will lose one or two more games, as will Washington (which may lose all 4) and Philly (who plays the Cowboys, Rams, and Texans).

So yes, 9-7 will prob take the 6th seed.

Why would you want to quit when we are 1/2 game out with four to go?

It’s not about wanting to quit.

It’s about being realistic: nothing should give any of us hope of winning another game except blind optimism and the fact we always have won in December (save for 2001 and 2018). Neither do enough for me to think we can win again until 2019.

Hoping we get blasted by the Browns actually is literally wanting to quit.

    • More so than the stats it was against that killer defense in their own stadium, the same defense that made Mahomes look like a total JAG in the SB. The way Bryce handled adversity all game was simply phenomenal , the off script play in the end zone, scrambling out of a sack/safety to find XL deep was one of the best plays we have seen out of a Panthers QB on what should have been a game winning drive
    • He’s about to be 0-12 in the conference finals and we’ve been outscored 16-4 in this series after only losing 2 games the previous two rounds and looking really in control of the series. There’s major red flags here as to why he seems so overmatched once he gets to a certain level. There comes a point where “just getting there” isn’t good enough. We are at that point.
    • Listening to the post-game, and holy poo! Has Rod ever said, "this one's on me." When asked about composure, he threw Staal and Martinook under the bus. "Those 2 can't be your best players." Disregarding that he didnt answer the question, does he realize how that sounds to professional athletes? When asked how you prepare for game 4, "I'm not even thinking about that." Clearly, Rod.
