Panthers 2019 Offseason Primer - An In Depth Look at the Future of our Team

I agree with mostly everything, except I’d shop vb and have a little more urgency on fixing the d line. Clark for his off field issues may not be on the radar but we’ll see. De and interior d line need to be a priority this offseason. Followed by adding some quality cbs, I think the offense is set just beef up the o line and add some WR depth

I enjoyed reading your post @Bronn So much more enjoyable than some of the hysterical knee-jerk threads that I’m seeing atm.

It is clear to me that the roster needs a big overhaul in the coming offseason. We are an old team and  facing a few retirements and underperforming players or guys going into free agency.

Looking at mock drafts is interesting at the moment because you can make an argument for drafting so many different positions-justifiably.

I think edge has to be a priority, simply to get some youth into the rotation.

OT maybe necessary. I would agree with others that you are massively low-balling D Williams. If you look at other teams forums like Colts, Bills Jets, Texans, teams with huge cap reserves you will see his name mentioned tons there as an FA target among fans. In addition I’ve read that last year his agent and the FO were ‘not close’ in their valuation of his next contract. I think he will receive high offers and he may feel unhappy about his treatment of his injury early this season in his contract year. I couldn’t blame him. I would love him to stay but it will be an interesting one to watch. If he does go there are a number of OTs that I like-possibly even into the second rnd. Avoiding using a high pick is preferable but I’m also not keen to overpay DW coming off injury and a single breakout season.

Naturally, it depends on who is available at our pick but one of the positives is that we have so many areas that need attention that many options will be on the table. For example- do we take Deionte Thompson Alabama safety if he’s there? Historically we don’t draft safeties high. But who knows if we see major changes in FO? Will Tepper have influence on the direction of the franchise?

said. I'd definitely look to FA for a backup quarterback, though. I just don't trust Heinicke enough to go unto camp as the unquestioned backup.

Agree with a ton of the OP. Thanks Bronn.

I too think we may need a 3rd QB, especially if Cam has any more surgery.
