I didn't read anything anybody wrote in this thread/ The short answer is...no the fug he doesn't.  2-3 year deal is fine. Long term, not a chance with our cap situation.

What's the definition of a long-term deal? I agree a 3 year deal is fine, but isn't that considered "long-term"?

Ried is a good safety.  The reason that he, Boston and all the other safeties did not sign in the offseason is because they wanted to much money.  For 4 or 5 million a year, yeah sign him.  But all those guys were looking for 7 or 8 million a year last year and for that, unless your Earl Thomas or the second coming of Ed Reed, no.  One of these days some team is going to do away with safeties and just stick 4 corners on the field at all times.  The way the game is played now the weakside LB in a 4-3 is basically a safety anyway.

Absolutely there is....you think the Patriots EVER overpay?  Every dollar saved is a dollar that can be used to improve at other positions.

pats are a horrible example, they have arguable the goat at qb taking less money and the goat coach who has develop a culture and system in NE, we're not close to them and may never be, which is fine but we'll have to do things the difficult way. 3 to 3.5 mil a year is fair for both sides

i say this only if he is set to be used the correct way

There are currently almost 40 safeties making more than 3.5 mil this season and 40 next season. Reid will make more than 3.5 mil per year going forward. He grades out as above average right now and hes been trending up since his third week here. You can hate the guy because he kneels but facts are facts.

We were the team that allowed him to come play again. Now that he is back in the league and playing better than other teams starters ( ours included ) he will get 3.5 mil for sure. You, again, ignored the facts of the situation. If this is your dislike, where you won't even refer to him by name, came up with a nickname for him on your own, post about him, talk about him, dismiss her performance.... I would love to see how bad you get when you hate something lol. He probably won't be here next year but he will be getting 3.5 mil + a season from somebody.
