So apparently the Panthers have continued their lore of jacking up opposing players:

Updating a previous item, the Washington Post reports that Redskins LT Chris Samuels is likely to retire.

The original report claimed that Samuels definitely would retire, but the story has been revised. The new report says he "will most likely retire." Samuels, 32, is done for 2009 due to an aggravation of his spinal condition that occurred two weeks ago. The Skins have nothing remotely resembling a long-term replacement on their current roster. Stephon Heyer is starting there now.
