for what its worth all that needs to happen here is an eagles win over the redskins on MNF tomorrow.

A Giants win over the redskins(plausible)

A Seattle win over Minnesota(toss up game)

and a Dallas win at home Vs philly(favored)

obviously the hardest and final part WOULD BE TO BEAT THE CLEVELAND fuging BROWNS

You had to tease me with this.  All the above is possible and I wouldn’t be shocked if it plays out that way ... I just don’t see the Panthers getting to 9-7 though.  I guess anything can happen and I’ll be hoping for a win in Clevand.  At least the would make the Monday night game and the rest of the season more interesting.

Clock management, time outs (2 on the last two plays prior to missing on 4th down), Pass interference gave the Buc's +70 yards on their last TD drive. We were lucky they fumbled going into the endzone by Barber.  Where was our running philosophy with 5:58 left in the 4th qtr, nothing but passes and pressure by J P-P (he abused Clarke (who recognized that and helped out in Pass pro?))We're just not that good and we play to our opponents level week in and week out. I know its the NFL and that each team is stocked with quality athletes, but we have yet to smoke an opponent for four quarters ( in one game that is).

Blown games by analytics>> (as seen by the Carolina Analytics staff: Washington, Atlanta, Detroit, Seattle, Tampa Bay)

Beat CLEVELAND, GIVE A DAMN!

It doesn’t matter. We’re not beating the Saints. There is a 50/50 chance we lose to the Falcons. 9-7 isn’t gonna get us in the playoffs. Someone is going to win 10 games.

Even if by some miracle we make the playoffs does anyone have confidence in this crap defense?

Hate to say this but I really can't wait till we are completely out of contention so you overly optimistic idiots finally realize we have a terrible team this year.  There is a limit to realistic expectations and you some of you cross in the realm of unrealistic with this team.  WE ARE NOT WINNING THE SB THIS YEAR, no matter how many positive thoughts you send the Panthers way.  Seasons over...get over it.

It is possible. WAS have injury issues and Chi and Minn lost today.  Atl is eliminated.

And we are not losing to the Browns that's for damn sure.

We are not losing to the Browns?  Pretty sure of yourself after we just lost to arguably one of the worst teams in the league this season.  We can easily lose to the Browns.

    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
