The future of the Panthers with Cam as our qb

Before I get blasted let me say that I’m not a Cam hater. He’s the best thing to ever happen to the Panthers.

But looking at the way he’s throwing the ball with his surgically repaired shoulder isn’t very reassuring. You can tell he’s not 100% and might not ever get back to 100%.

Which brings me to my point... if we have seen the best of Cam how far will this team go with him as the qb? Should plans be started to find his eventual replacement?

Careful. Folks around here don’t take kindly to objective observation on Cam even if you talk about how great of a season he’s having.

No idea. Cams taken a lot of hits and with this shoulder problem that hasn't gone away..

Also the fact that his contract only goes through 2020. That makes 2019 a huge year in determining whether or not he will be resigned and we could very well have a totally different staff by the time 2019 ends and combined with having a new owner. All I can really say is just watch what happens very closely during next season.

He just had a game where he was near perfect last week. Cam is a great QB, but like any QB you have to protect him. Look how many picks Luck threw when his line was terrible and he also injured his shoulder from getting hit so much. We need a LT LG and new C next year terribly... Cam is having a great year and you wait for one bad game to say he can’t play anymore? I’m assuming you just wanted to get a bunch of responses by stirring the pot with this nonsense...

not sure why everyone is all of a sudden concerned about Cam's shoulder

it was sore towards the end of the game today because he took numerous shots in the pocket. this is the NFL. poo happens

he's been throwing the ball beautifully all season long with a ton of zip on the ball and with great accuracy

Cam is our QB for the foreseeable future. lets stop with these threads please

To take Cam Newton out because he can't push the ball 55 to 60 yards may seem like just "one of those things," but it's pretty significant. In fact, I can't remember seeing that in all my years of watching. You want your best playmakers on the field when the game is in the line, and the fact that Cam wasn't kind of speaks volumes.

Wow— The Carolinas really don’t deserve a football team.

i hope Tepper moves the team elsewhere so all of the fake fans here can go back to Washington or Atlanta.

i don’t see New England, Green Bay, Pittsburgh, and others talking about ejecting their franchise quarterback every time a bad stretch happens,.. because they have real fans,... not this joke of a town.

all of those places and quarterbacks mentioned have had plenty of 4-5 interception games. Cam still has the lowest interception count he’s ever had

jesus the Carolinas suck

The hard truth we need to get to is that we are at year 9 regardless of who it is.  We have a generational talent that is going into his 9th year, banged up, and with the SAME freaking staff pretty much the entire time.  This includes 1 MVP and1 NFC Championship.

Getting to the decade mark with any QB is big.  We should start scoping things out.  But he should be in tact 3-5 more years.

I think we should stay committed to Cam as he's definitely still a top 10 franchise QB and we can absolutely win it all if we can build around him. However I also think it's time to start seriously looking at QBs to groom and develop on day 2 of the draft. Or even 1st round if there's an Aaron Rodgers type fall by a top prospect...

The thing about his surgically repaired shoulder is it's not repaired.

Don't worry how I know this, but cam continually puts off the real surgery he needs to have on it, opting instead for little clean up procedures.

He hates surgery and needles and poo and doesn't want to commit to the rehab portion of it. he's probably a little scared too which is very common, especially in athletes. but at this point he needs to bite the fuging bullet
