I question whether Tepper would sell the team in the next lifetime.

When Kent Babb profiled him, he stated his expectation that Tepper will actually spend the next few years transitioning to becoming a full-time NFL owner with everything else in the background.

Oh, I absolutely agree and believe that Tepper is going to be a great owner. The poster was trying to point out that he was on the anti-Tepper bandwagon from the beginning.

It hardly matters. Tepper is here for the duration whether the poster wants to accept it or not.

this is another puffed up assertion by the author.

I think our record as a team stands at 189-189 and 1.  Hardly a history of a " winning " franchise imo anyway.

It was better and more consistent over a certain recent five year period.

Fox was here for 9 years. Rivera has been here for 8. Consecutive or not, they're pretty much the same. And like I said, we backpedaled into the playoffs in '14.

Let’s say we don’t make the playoffs.

4/8 = 50%

3/9 = 33.3%

thats still a huge difference. Without even talking consecutive.

You are forgetting the key factor. We were still in the playoffs. Or does it not count cause you don’t feel it does.

We are two close loses from being basically gurenteed a playoff spot. But everyone is acting like we are 1-16.

Lmao I don’t know what to tell you if you think what the Patriots are doing is old school. Their scheme has adapted to the modern game and they adapt to their team’s strengths. It’s far from old school.

I see you cannot read what I said, please try again.

We aren’t even out of the playoffs yet. We can have this discussion at end of the season.

But I will say this, Thats if they are even still here. Who knows what our future GM is going to bring and who he’s going to want to keep.

Think on that.

I have.

Exactly how many more years are you willing to give Ron Rivera to "turn it around"?

We also have 2-3 close wins that we should've lost. We are much worse than our record indicates. I also see no point if we somehow make the playoffs when we'll lose in the first round. That isn't something to be proud of. You're also still including the 2014 season. A record of 7-8-1 is not something to boast about.

i can see this becoming, i have a feeling...  some of you guys are ridiculous.   letting go a coach who can't get over the hump after 8 years isn't rash.   its not a pattern.  we aren't the browns.  they're on their way up by the way.

Turn it around? Last I checked as I just said, we were in the playoffs last year and aren’t yet out this year. Not sure how that classifies as turning it around.

Or didn’t I just say that already? We can discuss this when the outcome of this season is completed. Depending on the outcome of the season maybe I will change my mind.

The current staff meeded a huge season to stay and I said it when Tepper became the new owner. This guy has lots of NFL experience as a minority owner. You can't tell me he hasn't been dreaming of owning his own franchise for years. You also can't tell me that he doesn't want to bring in people who will mirror his mindset. You don't spend $2.5B on a team just to keep the status quo mediocrity.

I think it's important to note that Tepper doesn't just have years of experience being part of an NFL team. He has years of experience being part of an NFL team that was a consistent winner. As such, he's been around people who are are some of the best in the league at what they do.

Time spent with people who know what they're doing makes it much easier to spot people who don't.

Bear in mind, Rivera was on the hot seat going into the 15-1 Super Bowl season. That bought him a couple more years. The year following was a disaster and this year is leaning that way. Why? Because Ron was under the impression he wouldn't have to change anything to continue having success.

If the Patriots teach us anything, it's that change is a must and is always happening. They make radical changes on a near yearly basis, but they are wildly successful. Their players buy into the system every year or they are gone. Pretty simple philosophy, really. One the Panthers would be wise to adopt. Ron won't. He likes the status quo and will continue to beat his head into a wall thinking that it will break, soon.
