REPORT: Carolina Panthers already setting their sights on positional priorites in next April's draft

• Ryan Finley (QB) - Round 3-4 - No. We need a backup, but no thanks. 
• Kelvin Harmon (WR) - Round 1 or 2  - - Funch replacement and upgrade.  Cam would have Moore, Samuel, and Harmon to grow with over the next few years. 
• Garrett Bradbury (C) - Round 3-4 - - Kalil replacement.  I'd possibly lean more towards a guy who has guard experience as well, but with Kalil retiring...we need a center.  Larsen might be that guy already, but meh. 
• Germaine Pratt (OLB) - Round 3-4 - - Depending on TD and our young drafted LBs last year, this is a luxury pick.  Personally I'm about tired of the Shaq Thompson experiment, though.  
  • We picked up Shaq's 5th year option - - but save 9 million cutting him...

ACC guys in the first round...

• Clemson - Clelin Ferrell, Christian WIlkins, Dexter Lawrence (all three may be gone)
• BC - Zach Allen (DE) - Good pass rusher & good against the run.  McShay says he has a little Cameron Jordan in him...I'll take that. 
• FSU - Brian Burns (DE) - Still a little raw and needs to add some weight, but potential is crazy

 

WR is honestly the last thing on our list of needs

Is it though?  We let Funch walk and we have...

Moore and the potential of the dreaded sophomore slump as he gets #1 CB attention.  Samuel, who has been healthy for a cup of coffee.  And...?  Jarius Wright?

Torrey looks like a cut to save 5 million, let Funch walk instead of paying him 12+ million, Byrd is done.  WR quickly could look thin again depending on FA.

As long as we get a couple All-pros out of the draft I'll be ok.

All pro teams scout and plan years ahead. Wow what a wild idea,...

they have a mission statement, plan, free agent and draft big board, crash plan, etc

any pro team would, regardless of sport. 

So yes there are needs, big boards, best players to target regardless of need etc.

Yeah I still feel like it’s a strength. You could look for a WR3 but we’re in solid shape otherwise, I’d say

Defense focus in the draft should be those that can get to the QB and corners that can cover. IMO draft is for the offense, defense can be handled by a good FA. We need better free agency moves

I dont see how he would fit on the team. We are plenty well off with Moore, Samuel, and Wright as our top 3 WRs.

Upgrading the o-line buys Cam more time to throw to our lethal weapons, and improves rushing lanes for CMC. TEs eat this league alive and Olsen is falling apart.

Later rounds we can pick up some scrappy defenders. We should look to FA for a premier pass rusher. Counting on a 1st year DE is not my thing, and we need to win now. Cam's prime is going down the drain due to foolish decisions.
