Was because of the Ed O'Bannon case where a class action suit was filed claiming the NCAA and game makers were using players' likenesses in these games without the player's permission.

Matter of fact, I think the settlement was for $1,000 per player who showed up in any of the games- basketball, football or anything else.

because for years, college football was last years madden and it took awhile for people to figure that out. now go brush your horse.
