Stop caring if this team wins or loses. You'll feel better.

With a 21% chance to make the playoffs, a 0.7% chance of winning the division, and a 0.1% chance of winning the Superbowl per ESPN's Football Power Index, do we have any reason to care anymore? Even if they win on Sunday, the chances of even a simple wildcard berth are slim. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/page/Football-Power-Index/espn-nfl-football-power-index

The Panthers are perpetual disappointments and we should be used to this by now. So my advice, even to myself, is to just stop caring. We can watch the games the rest of the year simply enjoying football with no expectations. The wait for NFL football over the Spring and Summer can feel like an eternity. If by some miracle of god the Panthers somehow make the playoffs, that's great. They probably won't, but who cares. Let's just enjoy watching Cam Newton try to will this crummy team to victories while we can. We could easily be the Raiders and have a coach imploding the team intentionally before a move to Las Vegas.

OP might be on to something.

If the Panthers losing a game causes bouts of depression that last more than than a few minutes/hours (at most) becoming less emotionally invested is a good thing.

I don't think it makes a person any less of a fan if they somewhat distance themselves for the sake of their emotional well being.

Playoffs or not, This team is not winning the super bowl this year I’ve already seen Ron and co in the playoffs. With that said, I’m more excited about what the new owner is going to do for the team in his first real season than fizzling out the rest of this season.

At the end of the day, it's entertainment. Somehow sports has an emotional grip on its fans. The 2014 season had me mad for days after the games. Then I realized I was never that mad just because this weeks episode of Real Housewives sucked. Then the fact the team or players have no idea who I am. Then I started playing fantasy football again, that kinda helped the emotional detachment as well.

But yes, it is a waste of your life to be too emotionally invested in any sports team.

I'm fairly confident we make the playoffs.

We'll restart the unofficial ATX Mini Riot chapter when we make the playoffs :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

Ugh I miss those days, that year was so magical. Winning that playoff game in the Seahawks bar was my favorite moment as a fan of all time
