Stopping Brees

Its clear that the way to stop Brees is to collapse the pocket. Buck and Aikman are correct, the end rush won't stop him. KK used to be a guy that could do that, got paid and took a nap. Poe is just here. Can they supplement the inside rush with Luke, T.D, and Shaq to shake him up.

We saw the results of a good interior rush tonight. Dallas has a good defense. Don't know if we have the horses to pull it off.....what you got?

An 8 year old could block Luke's blitz up the middle. Tiny RBs blow Luke up when he tries to blitz. He's beyond terrible at blitzing. KK decides if we beat the Saints or not and KK he's quit on the team. He's barely trying, or he's a stroke and lost his strength. Things are so bad that I wouldn't be surprised if we took at DT in the 1st or 2nd round to eventually replace KK. He's killing us.

Im pulling for Poe,..

Poe actually draws a lot of double teams, and his presence helps tremendously-- KK went on a Money Love nap and is not doing his job.

If KK was playing like he was when Star was here, he would have much better stats-- but hes playing lazy-- like when Jon Beason used to have to call out Pep. Now Pep is our best defensive guy.

Man people are blowing up Luke-- its amazing just how fast people want to turn on someone--

Pressure up the middle, hard to believe that other teams, like the Rams, don't have defenses that could have done the same thing, yet none of them could hold Brees down.  That being the case one should seriously ask if all the long time rumors of fixed games might be onto something.

Star often drew double teams. If Poe is getting stoned by just one guy, that could explain the drop off.

Just speculation though. I'll tape the next game and really watch the DT's.

It's the other way around. Poe plays more than star and gets two guys. KK just doesn't work hard to beat his man. When Poe and Love play together we have a better interior rush.

Ive been saying it for years, but couldn't correctly articulate it...  this is it.  I've alluded to how often it appears our front four get pushed from the a gaps out...  like there is literally no pressure directly up the middle, even if we started up aligned there.  All four guys get pushed outward, with the DEs so far out they can't make a play unless they're able to double back aftet they already got pushed behidn the QB and to the back of the pocket.

It's been going on for years, but in hindsight, what makes me appreciate McD and Wilks that much more is now I see the true breadth of what they were doing...  sending all thiuse double A gap blitzes (or at least the appearance), bringing a DB down for extra pressure, etc.  As I've always said, below average coaches get can squueze medicore results out all their player, GREAT coaches can maximize what their elite players do, while emphasizing the strengths and masking the weaknesses of everyone else.
